Season Record

Packers: 3-1 (NFC North)
Bengals: 3-1 (AFC North)

Surprise records all around.  The Packers surprised the league by losing to the New Orleans Saints in week 1.  Everyone who heard about Aaron Rodgers offseason struggles figured he would come back to go undefeated and send every other team into crisis counseling. But reality kicked in fast and they lost right away.  Of course they have won ever since.

The surprise of the Bengals is they are winning. QB Joe Burrow jumped on Sep with a vengeance of having missed the second half of his rookie season to an ankle injury. He insists on having an NFL season to remember regardless of the history of his team and his front office.

Green Bay Packers vs Cincinnati Bengals Preview and Analysis

RECENT FORM
The Packers opened the season with a terrible loss to the New Orleans Saints.  It was over before the end of the first half.  Viewers in Pa, NJ, WV, Va, all turned the Channel to find better contests.  Green Bay showed up to a high-scoring contest and were out of it by halftime… How else can it be restated?… Green Bay lost 38-3.  Game 2 brought the Det Lions and gave the Pack a win 35-17.  Game 3 was a stiffer challenge against the San Francisco 49ers, but still a win 30-28.  Game 4 was an easy win over the Pittsburgh Steelers 27-17.  The Pack is on track, 3-1.

The Bengals are a surprise 3-1 with young quarterback Joe Burrow.  He is doing it all.  They started the season with a game 1 win over the Minnesota Vikings 27-24. Followed by a bad loss in Game 2 to the Chicago Bears 20-17, who are no good.  Game 3 was a big win over the Pittsburgh Steelers 24-10.. Ask anyone in CIn, a win against Pit is big. Game 4 was another close one against the Jacksonville Jaguars, but the Bengals pulled it out for a 24-21 win.  They start Oct with a winning record and look to keep on pushing.

Offensive Analysis

The Packers are scoring 23.8 points a game on 333.8 yards per game. The first game of the season was so bad that these numbers will gain traction and grow on Thursday whether they win or not.

The Bengals are scoring 23 points per game on 345 yards per game.  Joe Mixon’s health will be a point of concern going forward, but as it sits right now Joe Burrow has become part of the NFL’s good quarterback club.

Defensive Analysis

Green Bay’s defense is giving up 311.5 yards per game and 25 points per game. They are giving up more passing yards than rushing yards but a close look at the stats list will tell you… so is everyone else.

The Bengals are doing great on the defensive side of the ball…. They are only allowing 18.8 points per game on 323 yards per game.  They also have a young QB to be proud of and a city thirsty for success… so before they are buried in Dec snow… they need some more wins.
