NBA Standings

Warriors: 43-18, 2nd place Western Conference
Timberwolves: 32-29, 7th place Western Conference

A Western Conference matchup of actual playoff teams.  The Warriors are a great team that has been in a funk without future Hall of Famer PF Draymond Green healthy and playing.  The Minnesota Timberwolves have been in a euphoric high since the all-star break and their star Karl-Anthony Towns won the 3-point shooting contest.  He was the first actual real life big man to do it.  The West is tight at the top conference… except for the Phoenix Suns who have a huge lead in 1st place.  The Warriors are bunched up with the Grizzlies and the Jazz in the top-4.  The Timberwolves are having a better season than usual and find themselves in 7th place.  The Wolves are not quite a juggernaut, but still win often enough to be destined for the playoffs.

The Warriors have won only 5 of their last ten games.  Going 2-7-1 during that stretch.  Logging 6 Overs, 3 Unders, and 1 push.  The Warriors are a deep team led by one of the greatest players in league history in Stephen Curry.  We all know the resume of Steph, Klay, and Draymond.  The problem at the moment is that Draymond is out with injury.  Not having Draymond means that the league’s 3rd best defense is missing their best defensive player.  The Warriors last game was a loss to the Dallas Mavericks that included blowing a 20 point lead to finish with a 6 point loss.  The problem with betting on the Warriors is they always seem to be favored… but as you can see over their last ten games they don’t always win or cover when they do win.

The Minnesota Timberwolves have won 6 of their last 10 games. Going 5-4-1 ATS.  The SWolves are in a weird spot as they can no longer use the excuse that they are a young team.  Yes, they have a young star in SF Anthony Edwards… but everyone else has been around long enough that “young player” is simply not true.  Leading scorer Karl-Anthony Towns has been in the league since 2015.  He scores 24.4 ppg, 9.7 rpg, and 3.9 apg.  The combination of Karl-Anthony and PG D’angelo Russell (also in the league since 2015) is completely out of excuses.  The duo needs to win and win now or Minnesota will watch as Luka, Ja, and even Josh Giddey take over the league in the coming years.  Now is the time for the T-Wolves to win or be completely broken up.

Golden State Warriors vs Minnesota Timberwolves Game Prediction

Our prediction for Tuesday, March 1st is….  Warriors 118 - Timberwolves 111

The Warriors will score against the Timberwolves… They will not, however, drop the lead like they did against Dallas.  They have been sufficiently snakebit and woken up.
