An NBA Playoff Round Two Game Two matchup. Once again the road team won the first game of the series… and stole home court advantage.  There is a terrible feeling in all these matchups that the injuries and absences of prominent players will be finished and the “better teams” will get spanked by teams that were just waiting for health.  So far in the 2022 NBA Playoff second round… that is true.  Can the Grizzlies regain form and win the series, SURE. Can the Grizzlies get swept by a better Warriors team that has more postseason experience?... absolutely!  So the drama all boils down to what the point spread is… which is the best drama the world has ever known.  Let’s look at the numbers and see who has the inside track to make you cash.

The Golden State Warriors have won 9 of their last ten games including 5 Playoff games and 5 regular season games.  They went 7-3 ATS during that stretch.  In the first game with the Memphis Grizzlies the Warriors won 117-116… Literally a made shot here or there could have broke the game the other way.  A made foul shot earlier would have sent this game to overtime… and who knows what would have happened.  The Warriors got 24 Points from PG Stephen Curry, 31 points from the NEW WEAPON SG Jordan Poole, and 15 points from SG Klay Thompson.  The scoring got spread around the top-9 players in a game when the Warriors only played 10 guys.  We have come to expect greatness from the Warriors… after all they are the league’s most recent dynasty and are still using most of the same players… the magical reloading moment came when the Warriors drafted SG Jordan Poole with the 28th pick in the 2019 draft.  Jordan is an offensive weapon worthy of his first name… He is playing like a top-five 2019 pick…, except he fell all the way to the most recent best team in the league.  Earlier this season I reported on the “nuclear option”... that was a trade between the Warriors and the Denver Nuggets that never got pulled off… The moving parts were the Warriors sending Poole, Kuminga, C James Wiseman, and C Kevon Looney to the Nuggets for C Nikola Jokic,,, both teams backed away from the idea quickly… both teams would be better off today if it had gone through. The Warriors woul;d be undeniably unstoppable while the Denver Nuggets would have a real future.

The Memphis Grizzlies ate the rest of the league this year!  They are a deep, athletic, young team, who kept on winning! Memphis has won 5 of their last ten games (including 3 regular season games) .  They struggled mightily against another young, athletic team in the Minnesota Timberwolves.  They only went 5-5 ATS during the stretch.  The Grizzlies announced a current MVP candidate and a future MVP winner in PG Ja Morant!  The guy is an incredible star and great team leader.  He uses hustle and muscle to kill opponents.  What seperated the Grizzlies form the league is that Ja Morant went down with injury and missed the last month of the season… and they won at a better rate then they did with him!  Not because Ja isn’t great… but entirely because SG Desmond Bane IS great!  Desmond took over the team, just as he took over SG Dillon Brook’s job.  Desmond is a younger version of Jordan Poole…, if such a thing could exist?  SG Desmond Bane is capable of multiple 30 point games in a season and a series.  He scores, he defends, the team relies on him… and he was the 30th pick in the 2020 NBA draft.  Maybe the Lakers should have rethought trading all those picks?.    The Grizzlies also have PF Jaren Jackson Jr who got 33 points in 30 minutes on 6 of 9 3-point shooting and some foul shots.  The Grizzlies are deep and talented… but are they the Warriors?

Golden State Warriors vs Memphis Grizzlies Game Prediction

Our prediction for Tuesday, May 3rd is….. Grizzlies 118 - Warriors 117

Take the Grizzlies on a likely home win and put 2 points in your pocket.  The Grizzlies are at home and in Playoff history teams playing Game 2 at home win at a great rate, but ATS is a different story… since this spread is only 2 points?.. Benefit of the doubt will go to the Grizzlies.  You get two points if there is a last second shot.  The Grizzlies need this game if they are going to make this a series worth watching… let alone if they expect to move on.
