NBA Standings

Warriors: 48-26 on the season, 3rd place Western Conference.
Grizzlies: 52-23 on the season, 2nd place Western Conference.

A battle between Western Conference NBA teams.  The alomoast cream of the crop.  #2 versus #3.  The Warriors used to be the NBA’s hottest team.  They won and kept winning and propelled themselves for a little while into 1st place both in the Western Conference and the entire NBA.  Their winning was so impactful it launched Sf Andrew Wiggins into the all-star game.  Then of course injury hit the team and we all got to see that Wiggins was never all-star worthy because he cannot take over any game without help ever. The Grizzlies ARE the NBA’s hottest team. They have no chance of catching the Phoenix Suns for 1st in the Western Conference but then no one in the East has a chance at catching the Suns for 1st overall either.  In fact if the Suns were dropped form the equation… then the Grizzlies are the #1 team in the League… of course we can not drop the Phoenix Suns.

The Golden State Warriors have a talented and Hall of Fame bound trio in SG Kaly Thompson, PG Stephen Curry, and PF Draymond Green.  The best of the trio is clearly Draymond Green even though Steph gets all the attention. Draymond is a defensive force who does all the little thing on offense like leading the team in assists and rebounds.  After the trio, the Warriors are stacked.  They are so deep that the Mariana Trench is jealous!  Andrew Wiggins and Otto Porter Jr are veteran forwards… SG Jordan Poole and Sf Jonathan Kun=minga are the future of the Warriors with outside chances at the hall of Fame themselves… SG/PG Gary Payton II is the son of a Hall of Famer who is showing that he belongs at either guard spot in the event that anyone goes down with injury.  The Warriors lost their last game against the Atlanta Hawks 121-110 it was also a loss ATS. The Warriors defense gave up 33 points to PG Trae Young and 25 points to PF Danilo Gallinari… The Warriors' Klay Thompson had an amazing 37 points while going 9-16 from the 3-point line… but the hawks gave the Warriors more than they could handle without Steph Curry on the floor.

The Memphis Grizzlies have won 8 of theri last ten games.  They went 6-4 ATS during that stretch.  They are currently on a four-game winning streak while going 4-0 ATS during that stretch.  The Grizzlies are HOT and they are doing it without star PG Ja Morant who got some MVP mentions before going down with knee pain.  In his absence there is only one explanation:  SG Demond Bane is the new CJ McCollum!  It’s true!  Desmond Bane has been finding new heights in scoring and in FG% without Ja Morant running the show next to him.  This is great news!  Desmond has 2 years left on his ROOKIE contract.  Plus Ja Morant is better than Desmond no matter what you think you have seen.  Desmond’s rise has moved SG Dillon Brooks down to the Sf spot and to backup 2 guard minutes… the result is 2 great scoring 2 guards hitting the floor together and separately.  The word has always been that Memohis has two stars PG Ja MOrant and Pf Jaren Jackson Jr… with a solid assist from C Steven Adams.  The truth is that Desmond Bane and Dillon Brooks can complete the rarest of rarities:  A Big Four!  Yes, those two players are that good that they go 8-2 without Ja Morant in the lineup!  Another strong plus for Memphis is that they have the best backup point guard in the league in Tyus Jones.  Tyus is no Ja… but he belongs as a starter somewhere in the league and just so happens to fill a backup roll in Memphis.
