NBA Standings

Warriors: 43-21 3rd place, Western Conference
Nuggets: 37-26 6th place Western Conference

An NBA matchup of Western Conference Titans.  The first is missing a key player who may decide wins or losses compared with the recent results.  The Second is missing two of their 3 best players… but not their best… so the remaining great player is being ridden to wins the team did not deserve.  It is no secret that the Warriors need PF Draymond Green more than just about anybody on the roster.  Draymond, when he is healthy, leads the team in rebounds and assists and real big time defensive plays.  The fact that the Warriors have 2-3 other NBA Hall of Famers is a luxury… Draymond is the foundation.  The Nuggets are missing SG Jamal Murray and PF Micheal Porter Jr… Jamal makes things easier on C Nikola Jojic.  Jokic is opr may be the best player in the league.  Jokic was the NBA MVP last season and would be again if he were on a better team.  The result is a team that rides Nikola to wins… but won’t win big time playoff matchups without the other guys to supply Nikola with an actual team.

The Golden State Warriors have won only two of their last ten games.  During the stretch they were caught by and passed in the standings by the Memphis Grizzlies.  They are only 1-9 ATS during that stretch.  The current 4-game losing streak includes the horrible Los Angeles Lakers and the horrible Minnesota Timberwolves.  Ouch!  They have had 7 Overs, 2 Unders, and 1 Push during the stretch… this is not the results of this team earlier in the year.  We can all say Green is out… but there is also something to the fact that they added SG Klay Thompson back into the lineup and subtracted SG Jordan Poole… maybe there should be more of an even split of the playing time?

The Denver Nuggets are buggin’... according to 90’s Martin Lawrence.  Buggin of course means that they are off… or not their normal selves.  They have won 8 of their last ten games… which is great!  They are 7-3 ATS during that stretch which is great… but they are missing so much.  If the Nuggets get to the Conference Finals or a… gulp,,, Championship series… a new award will have to be created for Nikola Jokic… Sort of a decade’s MVP.  Jokic leads the team in every category.  When the Nuggets win Jokic has to do it all…. Except Jokic is doing it all. Jokic is the MVP in ways that Embiid or DeRozan or Morant could never be… he is winning games for an entire franchise with almost no help whatsoever.  Jokic in fact has an anchor next to him in SF Aaron Gordon… Gordon spends his time on the court doing the bare minimum that is required of someone who is paid like he is.  The Nuggets are going nowhere… except to the glory of brief in-season battles.
