Mavericks: 52-30, 4th place Western Conference; 0-3 in the series

An NBA Playoffs Western Conference Finals.  Get your brooms out!  Vegas is giving you a gift!  They have set the spread at Mavericks -1… even though every game has said NO MAVERICKS!  Even though the Mavericks offense doesn’t look up to snuff against the Warriors defense and the Mavericks defense does not look up to snuff against the Warriors offense.  The result is plain and simple brown bag stuff.  The Warriors are up 3-0 with a 3-0 ATS record as well.  The Warriors are on a 4-game winning streak dating to the last series plus a 4-0 ATS winning record.  Dallas is on a 0-3 losing streak AND an 0-3 losing streak ATS.  The great betting opportunity is for the Warriors.  Only the point spread could interrupt that…. Except Vegas has deemed the Mavericks to be the sleight favorites!  Ha!  Take the money!  Eat the steak… Drive the Land Rover!  In this series PG Luka Doncic has been exposed as the best young player in the league with the highest usage rate… What that means for the Warriors is that Luka can score 40+ points in any game and it does not matter on the finals outcome… because his teammates will almost never touch the ball. Luka has joined Russelll Westbrook and James Harden as guys who have multiple 40+ point games in the playoffs in LOSSES. It’s sad really.  The fix for the Mavs is to find another all-star to play with Luke… but that would mean moving Kleber, Dinwiddie, and Brunson on a hunch that whoever comes in could manage without the ball for 90% of the game…. That would not be KD, LeBron, Giannis, Karl-Anthony Towns… etc.  The only guy that would be is: CJ McCollum… and New Orleans would not give up on him for all the Mavericks picks and players.  The Mavs could have had CJ for very little just 3 months ago.

The Golden State Warriors have won 8 of their last 10 games.  They went 5-5 during that stretch.  4 Over and 6 Under.  The Warriors have found a way in every game of this series to have someone step up to be the hero while playing near perfect team ball.  They won game 3 109 - 100 (1 point off of my prediction exactly).  It was Andrew Wiggins turn to step up and he did with 27 points and 11 rebounds.  Andrew, the former #1 pick of the league, also had an earth shattering, posterizing dunk on the head of Luka Doncic.  Stephen Curry had 31 points and 11 assists.  Steph is an all-timer and he will stay that way since he keeps encouraging his teammates and keeps climbing the all-time playoff scoring list as he works towards Championship ring #4.  Kaly Thompson had 19 points, PF Draymond Green had 10, SG Jordan Poole had 10… The amazing thing about this team is they have built a core of future hall-of- famers… that can give way to a core of future all-stars.  They are deep and ready.  They are also a trade away from having a true NBA Center, but will once again prove they simply do not need one.  He Warriors will sweep the Mavs and Vegas has made it easy for you by favoring the Kavs in this game.

The Dallas Mavericks are on a severe 0-3 losing streak AND an 0-3 losing streak ATS.  They have relied on PG Luka Doncic to simply have the largest usage rate in the Playoffs.  It has been a mistake.  It makes it too easy for the Warriors.  The Warriors simply have to shut down the rest of the squad which is really made of role players… even Jalen Brunson who has gotten multiple high scoring games… simply is a role player.  They have won just 4 of their last 10 games.  They went 4-6 ATS during that stretch.  When you have a losing record in the recent playoffs you have a real good chance of missing the next round.  The next round happens to be the NBA FInals.  In the last loss Luka Doncic got 40 points in 40 minutes of play… we all swooned at his greatness… but were forced to remind ourselves that his greatness doesn’t alone supply wins. SF Reggie Bullock beat himself up and got beat on defense… while putting up zero points in 39 minutes!!  SG Jalen Bruson had 20, and SG Spencer Dinwiddie had 26 points… Big Man Maxi Kleber got ZERO points… C Dwight Powell got 3 points… This time around the Mavs should try to play their own “team of death”... Brunson, Dinwiddie, Doncic, Finney-Smith… and ???.  That is the problem outside of who scored last the Mavs do not know who might score next.  The sham of starting C Dwight Powell is over… the guy plays less than 10 minutes because he simply can not score… Why bother playing that game any longer? >10 minutes is not enough to affect the defense at any level.

Golden State Warriors vs Dallas Mavericks Game Prediction

Our prediction for Tuesday, May 24th is…..  Warriors 112 - Mavericks 100

Second verse, same as the first.  Seriously.. You have to ride another Warriors win.  If you had followed the advice of this colun=mn you would be 3-0 in this series. (As am I) and you would want to bet down, meaning you would want to bet half of the previous bet and take the easy money. I, on the other hand, see the Mavs favored and want to double up.  I will put $1500 on the Warriors to win.  It represents 1 ½ wins of profit against 3 wins of profit in the bank.  If I lose I still have some profit in the bank…, If I win?  It’s a Gold Package on vacation.
