Georgia Southern vs Ohio Prediction

The current betting odds have Georgia Southern listed as a 3.5 point favorite in this game for the Myrtle Beach Bowl according to Draftkings Sportsbook. Georgia Southern did just enough this season to become bowl eligible with their 6-6 record overall but a lot of their struggles came against conference opponents since they were only 3-5 in the Sun Belt. Meanwhile, Ohio looked a lot better in their games all season with their 9-3 record overall but they were also a really good team in their conference with a 6-2 record in the MAC. They were really good in their non-conference games too but a big reason they played so well is because they have a really good defense. Their offense has struggled a lot all season though and now they won't have their starting QB Kurtis Rourke who has entered the transfer portal. Georgia Southern wasn't great down the stretch but they struggled a lot more against Sun Belt opponents as they were a much better team in their non-conference games. They also played a MAC team earlier this season and won that game convincingly on the road. The best way to place a bet here is on Georgia Southern to cover the spread in this game.

Notable Quotes

“I thought this was really an important year for our conference, and like I said I truly think we have the premiere group of five conference in the country. You look up and there’s 12 bowl teams. That’s really important as far as respect and resume, and that’s going to be important as we expand playoffs, and you’re talking about that one group of five team to get in there. You want to be apart of a powerful league.” - Clay Helton on his team becoming bowl eligible this season.

“The Sun Belt Conference is a top to bottom very good conference. I know Coach Helton is going to have them ready to go but we are looking forward to the matchup.” - Tim Albin on his team being in the Myrtle Beach Bowl.
