Georgia Bulldogs Analysis

Georgia is coming into this game with a 3-0 record overall and is 1-0 in their conference games. This will be their 2nd conference game of the season, they won their first one against the South Carolina Gamecocks last week. Their other 2 wins came against the UAB Blazers and the Clemson Tigers in their season opener. This is the first of their road games this season but they did play that Clemson game on the road in a neutral site even though it was not a true road game it was still away from home. JT Daniels played well in their last game as he completed 23/31 passes for 303 yards, 3 touchdowns and 1 interception. Stetson Bennett also came in for a drive and he completed 1/3 passes for 4 yards and threw an interception. Kendall Milton led the team in rushing with 66 yards on 10 carries while Zamir White and James Cook both had 51 rushing yards and 1 touchdown each. Adonai Mitchell led the receivers with 77 yards and 1 touchdown on 4 receptions while Jermaine Burton was right behind him with 70 receiving yards and 1 touchdown. Overall, the offense moved well but there was no big day for any 1 specific player. Nolan Smith led the defense with 5 solo tackles, 3 assisted ones, and also had 1.5 sacks on the day. Derion Kendrick came away with the only interception for the defense in that game. They have scored 106 points in their first 3 games and they have allowed their opponents to score 23 points against them. Their offense is averaging 428.7 YPG while their defense is allowing 221.3 YPG.

Vanderbilt Commodores Analysis

Vanderbilt is coming into this game with a 1-2 record overall and is 0-2 in their home games which they will be here. Their 1 road win came against the Colorado State Rams while their 2 home losses came against the East Tennessee State Buccaneers in their first game of the regular season and the Stanford Cardinal in their last game last Saturday. Ken Seals struggled a lot in that game as he completed 16/37 passes for 120 yards, 1 touchdown and 1 interception. Mike Wright also got a little bit of work at quarterback and completed 2/3 passes for 31 yards and 1 TD. Rocko Griffin had a big day in the run game as he led his team in rushing with 107 yards on 19 carries while Re'Mahn Davis also had a good day on the ground with 76 rushing yards and 1 touchdown on 12 carries. The receiving corps were very quiet in that game though, Chris Pierce led the team in receiving yards with 52 on 6 receptions. Anfernee Orji led the defense with 5 solo tackles and 1 assisted one. Michael Owusu and Daevion Davis both had 1 sack combined in that game and no one on the defense had an interception. They have scored 50 p[oints in their first 3 games and they have allowed their opponents to score 85 points against them. Their offense is averaging 353.7 YPG while their defense is allowing 393.7 YPG.

Georgia vs Vanderbilt Prediction

Georgia will be on the road in this game and although it is really their first away game, they have already played in one neutral site game that was away from home and it turned out to be very low scoring. They like to run up the score at home but when in a hostile atmosphere, they tend to lean on their great defense which is a top 5 defense in the country for sure. Vanderbilt will be lucky if they are able to score any points at all here and Georgia will likely stop scoring at a certain point with this game being on the road. This game will stay under the total as Vanderbilt will struggle on offense and Georgia will just run the ball a lot and rely on the defense. The best bet here is for this game to stay under.

Players to Watch

Georgia Bulldogs: Brock Bowers is one player to watch here. He leads his team in receiving yards and in touchdowns. He is clearly a favorite target on this team. Whether it is throwing the ball down the field or near the end zone for a touchdown, look for him to get involved in the play some way.

Vanderbilt Commodores: Chris Pierce Jr. is one wide receiver to watch in this game. He leads his team in receiving yards and will need to play very well here going up against one of the best defenses in the country. Look for him to try and bust through this tough defense to make a play.

Notable Quotes

"The guys played really hard. So many guys played a big role in this game. It seemed the wealth was spread around offensively and defensively. I feel JT played with a high-level of confidence, the guys around him played good and we got the ball to our playmakers. They did a good job doing that. Pod (Jack Podlesny) is a great kicker and it was great getting him back on track in the second half and I’m proud of the guys. But we’ve got to get better. We’re not where we need to be. We did not play as well defensively tonight as we have in the past we will continue to improve." - Kirby Smart after their last win talking about their matchup with Vandy this week.

"That was a killer swing of momentum for us tonight." - Clark Lea on going 3-and-out to begin the 2nd half.
