Fresno State Bulldogs Analysis

Fresno State is coming into this game with a 4-2 record overall and they are 1-2 in their road games this season where they will be in this game. This will be their 3rd conference matchup of the year and they are currently 1-1 in their conference games this season. Their 1 win came against the UNLV Rebels while their loss came against Hawaii in their last game. They were on a bye last week so they have had an extra week to prepare for this game. They lost 27-24 in their last game going into the 4th quarter with a 14 point lead and letting Hawaii score 17 unanswered to win. Jake Haener kept pushing for the big plays but he struggled a lot in that game as he completed 18-50 passes for 388 yards, 3 touchdowns and 4 interceptions. Ronnie Rivers led the team in rushing with 74 yards on 15 carries but they did not really get much of a run game going in that one. Zane Pope had a nice day as he led the receivers with 113 yards and 2 touchdowns on 5 receptions. Jalen Cropper had 73 receiving yards and 1 touchdown on 5 receptions while Josh Kelly had 60 yards on 6 receptions. Overall, it was a pretty good day for the receiving corps. LJ Early led the defense in that game with 7 solo tackles. Kevin Atkins and Levelle Bailey both had a good game as well with 5 solo tackles each and Daron Bland was right behind them with 4 solo tackles. No one on the defense had an interception in that game while David Perales recorded the only sack for them. They have scored 234 points in their first 6 games averaging 39 PPG and they have allowed their opponents to score 135 points against them allowing 22.5 PPG. Their offense is averaging 520 YPG while their defense is allowing 319.2 YPG.

That loss came against AFA in their last game losing 24-14 in a game where they never really had control. Sean Chambers did not play his best in that one as he completed 11/28 passes for 143 yards and 1 touchdown. Xazavian Valladay led the team in rushing with 96 yards on 8 carries but he was basically their entire ground game in that one. Fresno State vs Wyoming Prediction

Fresno State is coming into this game as a 3.5 point favorite with the current betting odds according to Draftkings sportsbook. Fresno has a lot more weapons on their side to work with than Wyoming does. Wyoming started their season off great 4-0 but then lost their first game of the season in their last one and it was their first conference game too. It will be tough for them to get over that mental hurdle. Fresno is off a week of rest and has been preparing an extra week for this game. The best bet to place in this game is on Fresno State to cover the spread here.

Players to Watch

Fresno State Bulldogs: Jalen Cropper is one player to watch in this contest. He leads his team in receiving yards and in touchdowns scored this season. He did not lead the team in their last game as Zane Pope was the guy but he will be looking to change that in this game. Look for Cropper to get a lot of looks in this game as he is a playmaker and will find ways to get in the end zone.

Wyoming Cowboys: Xazavian Valladay is one player to watch here. He leads his team in rushing yards and in touchdowns scored this season. He is coming off of a good game where he rushed for just under 100 yards but he was really the only thing they had going for them in that game. Look for them to lean on him in the running game again in this one as he gets a lot of touches and tries to find the end zone here.

Notable Quotes

"We had a chance to put them away and we didn't do that and they're still a good football team, especially here at home and those little things that we missed on in the past couple games that we got past, bit us in the butt today." - Kaleb DeBoer on his team’s loss to Hawaii in their last game.

“He started out, some of his reads were not the best, some of his balls that he threw were a little bit inaccurate. We’ve got to shake off the cob webs there. He does have a really good throwing motion, he is confident. … We’ve got to get Sean calmed down a little bit better. He knows it.” - Craig Bohl on how his starting quarterback needs to improve in their games so they can keep playing well and finish with a good record.
