Panthers vs Maple Leafs Prediction

The current betting odds have the Panthers listed as a slight favorite in this game according to Draftkings Sportsbook. This is game 2 of a 7 game series between the 1st seeded Maple Leafs and the 3rd seeded Panthers from the Atlantic Division for the 2nd round of the NHL Eastern Conference playoffs. The Maple Leafs are leading the series 1-0 after winning game 1 at home. The Maple Leafs took a 1-0 series lead with a 5-4 win over the Panthers in the 1st game and that was a blowout game that the Panthers made a lot closer in the end. The Panthers got down by multiple goals early in that one and were even trailing 4-1 going into the 3rd period, but they fought back in the 3rd period with 3 goals scored and made that a much tighter game. A lot of that was due to Stolarz leaving injured as he was great when he was in net, making it very tough for the Panthers to score, and everything started to open up once he was out. That could be a lingering problem for the Maple Leafs in this game and Woll looked very shaky when he had to come into that game. The Panthers didn't play their best game from the start, but they are still the defending Stanley Cup champions and they know they need to steal a road game to get out of this series. They gained some momentum in that 3rd period that they can use in this game, and they will come out with a better effort from the start of this game. Look for the Panthers to bounce back in this one and even up the series going back home. The best way to place a bet here is on the Panthers to win this game.

Notable Quotes

“It was the perfect storm of that’s not the way you want to start when everyone has lots of energy and jump, but there’s some tension to it always at the start. So when you’re behind one, that’s our first period. We didn’t look like ourselves. We righted it in the second and had a pretty good push in the third.” - Paul Maurice after his team’s loss against the Maple Leafs in game 1 of this series on Monday.

“It’s a tough situation, for sure, especially in a playoff game with this magnitude. He handled it well, I thought, and listen, we got the win.” - Craig Berube on Joseph Woll after his team’s win against the Panthers in game 1 of this series on Monday.
