Edmonton Oilers Analysis

The Oilers are coming into this game finishing the regular season with 104 points, a 49-27-6 record overall, and they were 28-12-1 in their road games this season where they will be in this game. They have won 2 of their last 3 games but are coming into this one off of a loss in their last game which snapped a 2 game winning streak that they were on. Their 2 wins in that span were against the Los Angeles kings in game 6 and game 7 of their last series while their loss came against the Flames in their last game which was also game 1 of this series. They lost that game on the road 9-6. Zach Hyman scored 2 goals in that game while Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, Kailer Yamamoto, and Evan Bouchard each scored 1 goal for them in that one. Connor McDavid led the team in shots on net in that game with 5. Mike Smith was the starting goalie in that game and he allowed 3 goals on 10 shots with 7 saves and a .700 sv percentage. He was pulled in that game and was replaced by Mikko Koskinen who allowed 5 goals on 37 shots with 32 saves and a .865 save percentage. Their offense has scored 238 goals this season averaging 2.9 goals per game and their defense has allowed their opponents to score 246 goals against them allowing 3 goals per game.

Calgary Flames Analysis

The Flames are coming into this game finishing the regular season with 111 points, a 50-21-11 record overall, and they were 25-9-7 in their home games this regular season where they will be in this game. They have won 4 of their last 5 games and are coming into this one on a 2 game winning streak. Their last loss was against the Dallas Stars in game 6 of their last series while their 4 wins in that span came against the Stars in their last series in game 4, game 5, game 7, and against the Oilers in their last game which was also game 1 of this series. They won that game at home 9-6. Matthew Tkachuk scored 3 goals in that game getting a hattrick, Blake Coleman scored 2 goals himself, and Rasmus Andersson, Andrew Mangiapane, Elias Lindholm, and Brett Ritchie each scored 1 goal for them in that one. Oilers vs Flames Prediction

The Flames are coming into this game as a favorite with the current betting odds. They were very inconsistent in that game 1 against the Oilers but they were still the better team in that game and came away with the win there. They came out very strong in that game, taking a 3-0 lead in the 1st period before the Oilers could even blink. The Flames were much better for most of that game and they would end up taking a 5-1 lead that they went on to blow, being tied 6-6 by the time there was 18 mins left in the 3rd period. Even the momentum from that big Oilers comeback was not enough though as the Flames regained their control and still scored 3 more goals after to win the game 9-6. Markstrom did not play well in that game and was the only reason why the Oilers even came back and had a chance but he has been good in the playoffs so far and will likely bounce back with a better game here. The Flames were not playing great on offense in their first series and were scoring more goals on the road in those games but they finally found their offense at home here with 9 goals and their hatred for the Oilers here will likely bring out that fire again in this game. This was a very home dominant series throughout the season between these two and this series will likely go the same way. The best bet here is on the Flames to win this game.
