Recent Form

The Tigers have lost 3 of their last 5 games.  Posting 5 straight Unders in the last 5!!

The Indians have lost 3 of their last 5 games. Posting 3 Unders and 2 Overs. Their totals have gone Over in 26 of their last 49 games at home.

Series History:

The season series so far is Detroit 5 wins, Cleveland 8 wins.  Historically it is so amazingly close at 1133-1130 that this two game series could have real impact on a long enough timeline.

Statistical Comparison:

The Detroit Tigers are 20th in home runs and 15th in runs scored.  They are a middle of the pack team with a batting average of .242.  The lack of offense would account for the near guarantee of my betting (entertainment purposes only) the Under recently.  The pitching also gets few audience referrals.  They are 20th in team ERA at 4.51, with a lack of accuracy that extends from first pitch to next Wednesday.  The Tigers are 6th in the league in something... in hits given up (920)  Newsrooms don't waste a lot of time putting together Detroit clip packages for fantasy baseball enthusiasts.  They are the road underdogs and can give no warranties.  The slog through Aug.

The Cleveland Indians (soon to be Guardians) are 26th in team batting average (.231) and 21st in runs scored (454). The Tribe's pitchers are 22nd in team ERA 4.54 and 16th in runs allowed 488. What increases the Indians odds of getting this win is simply it being a home game. The host team here may be relying on an end-of-era name change to sell tickets between now and next year's first start.

Tigers vs Indians Game Preview

Miguel Cabrera continues his chase for his 500th career homer during this two-game series.  He is not the player he once was but knocking out a 500th against the Indians would bring the news coverage.  MLB picks aside, it would be nice to see that HR.

The Tigers will trot out (projected starting pitcher) righty Matt Manning (2-4, 5.59 ERA, 20 SO)  against the Indians righty Cal Quantrill (2-2, 3.40 ERA, 61 SO, 1.30 whip).  There isn't a world series contender in this match-up.  We already know that full list:  Los Angeles Dodgers, Houston Astros, Boston Red Sox, San Francisco Giants, Milwaukee Brewers, heck maybe even the New York Mets.   No, these dogs are mired in an AL Central slog for who gets to come in second place to the Chicago White Sox.

Trends:

Detroit Tigers:  Over their last ten games the Tigers are 6-4.  They took the Minnesota Twins 3-1 and split a series with the Baltimore Orioles, but the two quality wins would have been against Boston

Cleveland Indians:  Over their last ten games the Indians are 4-6.  The last win coming Monday night against the Toronto Blue Jays, they then dropped Tuesday and Wednesday to Toronto.

Tigers vs Indians Prediction: Our MLB Pick for Friday August 6th game is Tigers 3 Indians 2
