Season Record

Phoenix: 18-3, 1st place Western Conference
Detroit: 4-17, last place Eastern Conference

The Suns are on an amazing streak!  On Tuesday night the boys from Phoenix beat the Golden State Warriors 104-96.  It was a battle of the NBA’s two best teams.  When the dust settled, it was also Phoenix’s 17th straight win, a franchise record for any Sun’s NBA season. They are a young, exciting team just coming into the height of their powers under the leadership of the greatest veteran floor general in the league, Chris Paul.  All-Star SG Devin Booker tweaked his hamstring which could dampen the party, but the Suns firmly intend on pushing the win total to 18 in a row against the Pistons before the Warriors come up on the NBA schedule again Friday night.

The Pistons are on a different track this season.  They lost their last game to the Portland Trail Blazers, lost the game before to the Los Angeles Lakers, the game before to the Los Angeles Clippers, the game before to the Milwaukee Bucks, etc.  They are on a 7 game losing streak, they have only won 4 games in 21 tries!  So far below .500 as to be unimaginably bad.  ⅔ of the season yet to play and the only thing we know for certain is we will not see the Pistons anywhere near a playoff game this year.

Remember what AAA Sports did on Thanksgiving? They CARVED up the books with a 4-0 SWEEP, including 3-0 in NFL! They cashed in EVERY NFL game on Turkey Day, winning with the Under in Bears-Lions, Over in Raiders-Cowboys and then the Bills! Detroit Pistons vs Phoenix Suns Preview and Analysis

Recent Form

The Detroit Pistons are 4-17 on the season, but 10-11 ATS.  They have logged 9 Overs, 11 Unders, and 1 Push.  They are a terrible 2-9 on the road. There is an implied trap in the point spreads of the worst team... as it will be a large spread against any quality team like the Bulls and a tempting spread against other bad teams like the Pelicans.  The Pistons will be underdogs against everybody, but how could even the worst NBA team not cover 13 points in an NBA game?

The Phoenix Suns are 18-3, but 12-9 ATS.  They have logged 9 Overs and 12 Unders.  They are a wonderful 9-2 in home games. Money line winners of 17 in a row… but can they overcome a -13 point spread?

Offensive Analysis

The Pistons are 30th (last) in points per game with 98.7, 29th in rebounds per game with 42.7, 29th in AST/TO ratio with 1.4, and they are dead last in team shooting 40.5% FG, 29.5% 3-pointers.  They are just plain bad.  They don’t do anything well on offense and only slightly better than that on defense.  Across multiple categories they are the worst team in the NBA.

The Phoenix Suns are 4th in ppg with 112.2, 15th in rebounds with 45.2, 3rd in AST/TO ratio with 2.0.  They are shooting lights out from the field, 1st in FG% 48.1, 7th in 3PT% 36.4… even 10th in Free throws.  The Suns get buckets and even if Devin Booker sits this one out, they are head and shoulders above the Pistons in talent.

Detroit Pistons vs Phoenix Suns Prediction

Our prediction for Thursday, December 2nd is…. Phoenix 118 - Pistons 101

The Suns should blow the Pistons out.  The Pistons are a team made up of ill-fitting pieces.

Suns
Points: Devin Booker 23.2
Assists: Chris Paul 10.1
Rebounds: Deandre Ayton 11.5

Coach
Pistons: Dwayne Casey.  Coach Casey formerly of the Toronto Raptors is suffering with a young, untalented roster.  He is coaching the first overall pick in the NBA draft this year and will most likely be doing it again next year.

Suns:  Monty Williams.  Coach Williams has had the job since 2019 and shown improvement  each and every year.  It helps to have Chris Paul, but Monty is doing a great job.
