Detroit Lions Analysis

The Lions are coming into this game with a 0-8-1 record overall and they are 0-4-1 in their road games this season where they will be in this game. The Lions have not won a game all season but they are coming into this one off of a tie in their last game which snapped the 8 game losing streak that they were on. Jared Goff was not good in their last game as he completed 14/25 passes for 114 yards. D'Andre Swift had a nice day as he led the team in rushing with 130 yards on 33 carries while Godwin Igwebuike and Jemar Jefferson each ran in 1 TD on the ground in that one. Amon-Ra St. Brown led the receivers with 61 yards on 4 receptions in what was a quiet day for the receiving corps. Tracy Walker III led the defense in that game with 7 solo tackles. No one on the defense recorded a sack in that game but Julian Okwara did come away with 1 interception for them in that one. They have scored 150 points in their 9 games this season averaging 16.7 PPG and they have allowed their opponents to score 260 points against them allowing 28.9 PPG. Their offense is averaging 319.4 YPG while their defense is allowing 379.8 YPG.

Cleveland Browns Analysis

The Browns are coming into this game with a 5-5 record overall and they are 3-2 in their home games this season where they will be in this game. They have lost 2 of their last 3 games and they are coming into this one off of a road loss in their last game. QB Baker Mayfield did not play well in that game as he completed 11/21 passes for 73 yards, 1 touchdown and 1 interception. He got injured late in that game so backup quarterback Case Keenum came in to take over and he completed 8/12 passes for 81 yards. D'Ernest Johnson had a nice day as he led the team in rushing with 99 yards on 19 carries. He also led the receivers with 58 yards on 7 receptions while Austin Hooper caught the lone touchdown pass for them in that one. Anthony Walker Jr. led the defense in that game with 7 solo tackles and 1 assisted one. Malik McDowell and Myles Garrett recorded the only sacks in that game with 1 each while no one on the defense was able to come up with an interception for them in that one. They have scored 231 points in their 10 games this season averaging 23.1 PPG and they have allowed their opponents to score 241 points against them allowing 24.1 PPG. Their offense is averaging 363.8 YPG while the Browns’ defense is allowing 323.9 YPG.

Lions vs Browns Prediction

The Browns are coming into this matchup as a 10-point favorite with the current betting odds according to Draftkings Sportsbook. The Browns got smashed in their last game but the Patriots have been getting better each week and they are starting to look like a real force in the AFC this season. Mayfield is injured and might play in this game but even if he does not, Keenum is more than capable of leading the offense with his many years in the NFL and his familiarity with Stefanski's offense. The Lions have been so bad this season and they only tied their game last week because of Mason Rudolf being at quarterback for the Steelers. The Browns will be looking for a big bounce back after that bad game and they are going to get it here. The best bet to place in this game is on the Browns to cover the spread.
