A Western Conference second game of the second round series between the #1 Seed and the #4 Seed. The first game of the series ended in a deceptive score. Suns 121 - Mavs 114.  It was a barely win ATS for the Suns who were favored on most sites at 6.5.  The Game however was all Suns all the time… until they let up in the late fourth quarter.  In fact if Dallas Maverick backup PF Maxi Kleber had not gone 5 for 5 from the 3-point line in his first 5 shots… the Mavs would have lost by an easy 20 points.  The Suns have the Mavs number and as said by SF Mikal Bridges after the game “this is easy… we shouldn’t let up though”.  That is the story of the Game… The Suns opened by scoring the first 9 points of the game… they spent the rest of the evening going up by 20 points and then the Mavs would cut it to 10… then the Suns would go back up… then the Mavs would cut it again.  The Mavericks do not have some better player waiting in the wings… so this will not change in what looks like an obvious playoff sweep.  The question now is who will win ATS for the rest of the series?

The Dallas Mavericks have won 7 of their last 10 games, going 7-3 ATS during that stretch.  This Mavs team struggled against the Utah Jazz… and now they face the Phoenix Suns.  They went 6-4 ATS during the last ten games.  PG Luka Doncic is the best player in the series… and perhaps in all of the playoffs given that Jokic is done and Embiid is hurt… Am I saying Doncic is better than Giannis… Yes.  PG Luka Doncic can handle the ball and his usage is greater than Giannis.  If each team (Giannis and Luka’s) lost their key player… The Bucks would be a fringe playoff team… the Mavs would be a last place team.  The Mavericks got smoked in the loss yet… Luka pushed the finale to just 1 point away from a win ATS.

The Phoenix Suns won game 1 and won game 1 against the spread by 1 point.  The spread has adjusted by 1 point in favor of the Mavs.  But holy hell… the Suns let up at the end.  They should have won by 20 points! The second string got an earful for allowing the Mavs back in it. PG Chris Paul for the Suns is the best point guard a team could imagine having in the playoffs or in the 4th quarter of any game.  The Suns problem (if you have one after winning and winning ATS) is that they took CP3 out of the game in the 4th quarter. The triumvirate of Sg Devin Booker, PG Chris Paul, and C Deandre Ayton will continue to smoke the Dallas Mavericks.  The fact that the Suns have a deeper team after the starting five should convince you all the more.

This is a bet on the Suns series!  You may feel that the spread wants you to go the other way… but you shouldn’t.  The point spread in an NBA Playoff game will move… but it doesn't move because of results or talent.  It moves based on who is at home and what Vegas expects the betting breakdown to land on.  I will bet on the Suns each and every time… If I lose a game to the Mavs… I will end up 4-1 or 3-1… The series will not go further than that… also I base this on knowing that 2 Suns bench players would be Mavs starters if the Mavs had them on the roster. You have to go in and increase your limits if you want to make real bankroll on the NBA Playoffs.

The Suns will again kill the Mavs and I’m willing to put $880 on it.  I’m going to avoid the O/U… because if the Mavs score the Suns will match and exceed… but if the Mavs falter the Suns will run out the clock.
