Mavs - Warriors preview, prediction and analysis

Recent form
Mavs: won 111-106 vs. Pelicans
Warriors: lost 134-117 at Nuggets

I don't think we need to really pay attention to what's going on in this game and if you are inclined to want to pay attention, just know that the Golden State Warriors are probably going to run all over the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday.

Look, I say that with no happiness in my voice whatsoever. My words are only just a microcosm of the frustration I feel knowing that ABC is getting this game and The Mavericks are literally going to have nobody. No Luka Doncic, no Christian Wood, no Spencer Dinwiddie, nobody. And yet people expect this team of ragtag whomever to go into Golden State and beat a fully healthy Warriors team?

No it could possibly happen. Dallas could get somebody that goes right hot and the final bits of this thing and just suddenly say you know what? We got a chance. We have a chance to shock the world in ways that never really did fathom. But unfortunately that's not going to happen today because Dallas is probably going to get killed on both ends of the court. Even if they were to lose by 15, I would consider that a victory because there's nobody on this lineup that makes me believe that Dallas can win a game and still do everything else.

But I suppose that's what happens when Doncic erupts for 21 points in the first quarter on Thursday in what would eventually be the 111 dash 106 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans, but we can only be afforded some good news in some parts of the day because don't judge is hurt and there's no idea how long he's going to be out for, and I just don't have the medical capacity to even want to think about it.

“Looking at the defense, sometimes you can relax with a big lead,” Mavs coach JasonKidd said. “Understanding the Pelicans are a good team, they're trying to break a losing streak.”

But maybe there is some semblance of hope. Maybe there is just the unmitigated fact that Dallas can somehow pull off this upset and maybe drive the trade value up for a couple of people who may or may not be going back to Brooklyn for Kyrie Irving. Who is to say?

Dallas has some internal demons that it needs to get over and one of them might include having to trade assets in order to get a surefire second star. Who that second star will be will probably be predicated over the next couple of days though Kyrie sounds like the logical and more interesting choice in that regard. Golden State does not need to worry about that. They have enough firepower coming in that no one is going to overtake what is that they do.

Prediction

I just have no faith in Dallas even keeping it close and ABC is going to have a long look at potential information before we can move on from something like this. Golden State should dominate this game and if they don't, this may be more of a concern with GSW than anything else. Warriors 124, Mavericks 102
