Games and games and games between the best in the NL West and the worst in the NL  West.
After the first 3 games the Dodgers are 2-1 over the Rockies with 2-1 ATS. I have been imploring the faithful to bet ATS with the Dodgers… Had you don that you would be up 1 UNIT.  Since the Dodgers are head and shoulders above the Rockies you have to keep doing it…. We will check the pitching and the numbers… but we already know that the Dodger will win 8 of ten of these games… In a six-game series we must assume the Dodgers go 4 of 6 or 5 of six… also if we look close at the numbers we also have to assume the Dodgers ill win all of these wins ATS… They have done it consistently.  Let's check the matchup and make a prediction!

Wow!  The best team in the National League West… that also just happens to be the best team in all of baseball (record wise) with 108 wins so far… will finish the season with a six-game homestand against the Worst team in their division… who also happens to be one of the worst teams in the league.  If the “Team of Destiny” 2022 Los Angeles Dodgers only goes .500 in this series because they are looking ahead… They will finish with 111 wins on the season.. Better than .500 will bring more.  If the Dodgers play up to their abilities and avoid looking ahead to the postseason… they could sweep and finish with 113 wins.  Just 3 wins off of the all time record set back in the days of newspaper and local radio covering baseball if you were not at the park.  It is a great place to be… and a great place to finish the final stretch of games.  The Colorado Rockies can also look forward to this series because when it is over so will be their awful season… yet again.  The Rockies have spent the entire season with terrible pitching… but they aren’t bad hitters… in fact they are pretty good at the plate… and what we know with the Dodgers at 107 wins and the postseason long ago clinched… The Dodgers will rest the big arms and experiment with bullpen guys to see how they even want to set the playoff rotation.  The result could be the Rockies getting some big hits that result in big innings.  Let’s check the pitching matchup… and look again at the obscene moneyline odds… before making a bet.

The Colorado Rockies are at death’s door.  They have won only 1 of their last 10 games.  They are on a gross 5-game losing streak.  The 7 of the last 9 losses were to the awful San Francisco Giants.  Anyway they went 0-3 to the San Francisco Giants, 1-2 to the San Diego Padres, 0-4 to the San Francisco Giants, and 0-1 to the San Diego Padres during that stretch.  It has been bad.  Most Rockies are already feeling the joy of vacation.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have won 6 of their last 10 games.  It was actually a bad stretch of games for a team with such a great winning percentage.  The experimentation on the mound started two weeks ago.  Some of it good, some of it bad… but the Dodgers keep stacking wins.  They went 2-1 against the San Diego Padres, 2-1 against the St Louis Cardinals, 2-2 against the Arizona Cardinals.  The Dodgers are a tough out for anyone… for the Rockies they are even tougher.  The Rockies pitchers are among the worst anywhere and they will be pitching to the best line-up of batters in all the land.

Colorado Rockies vs Los Angeles Dodgers Review and Analysis

Recent Form

COL: 65-91, -412 ML, 72-77-7 O/U, 24-51 on the road.
LAD: 107-48, 1530 ML, 65-78-13 O/U, 54-21 in home games.

Offensive Analysis

The Rockies are 14th in scoring with 4.37 runs per game, 6th in batting average with .255, and 11th in OBP with .317.  This is a line-up that has long deserved a better pitching rotation.

The Dodgers are 1st in scoring with 5.45 runs per game, 3rd in batting average with .263, and 1st in OBP with .338

Defensive Analysis

The Rockies pitchers are 30th in MLB in TEAM ERA with 5.09, 29th in WHIP with 1.44, and their fielders are 27th in errors with 98 on the season so far.  THis is a bad ERA and WHIP to bring into Dodger stadium!

The Dodgers pitchers are 1st in ERA with 2.89, 1st in WHIP with 1.07 (that is a team average!), and the fielders are 15th in errors with 78 on the season so far.

MLB Betting Trends

The Dodgers are 49-15 after a game where the bullpen gave up no earned runs.
The Dodgers are 260-79 as a home favorite of -200 or more since 1997.

Key Injuries

Rockies: LF C Joe Out ** CF K Blackmon Out ** LF K Bryant Out ** CF R Grichuk Quest

Dodgers: The players that are held out will swell a bit as more and more guys will get rest before the postseason.  Players that have long sat on the injury list will be worked in here and there as a warm-up for the postseason.  Their injury list is full but meaningless.

Players to Watch

Rockies: RHP Ryan Feltner, 3-9, 6.01 ERA, 80 strikeouts in 91 innings pitched. 1.43 WHIP.  This 26 year old is meat.  He will get shelled by the Dodgers until he is pulled.  Maybe he can get it all straight with a few more months in the minors but not likely… He’s not good.

Dodgers: LHP Julio Urias, 17-7, 2.12 ERA, 162 strikeouts in 170 innings pitched. 0.96 WHIP.  Julio is the best pitcher in the major leagues and, maybe the 3rd or 4th starter in the Dodgers line-up. His ERA is undeniable.  His WHIP is amazing.  He got a few early losses and then took the league by storm.

Starting Lineups

Rockies: CF Yonathan Diaz, 3B Alan Trejo, 2B Brendan Rodgers, 1B CJ Cron, LF Sean Boouchard, RF Michael Toglia, DH Elehuris Montero, SS Ezequiel Tovar, C Brian Serven

Dodgers: RF Mookie Betts, SS Trea Turner, 1B Freddie Freeman, C Will Smith, 3B Max Muncy, DH Justin Turner, 2B Gavin Lux, LF Joey Gallo, CF Cody Bellinger

Manager

Rockies: Bud “should I start drinking?” Black

Dodgers: Dave “Is this heaven?” Roberts

Weather Forecast

Sunny during the day.  Warm enough during game time.  Nice all around.
