Avalanche - Coyotes preview, prediction and analysis

The Colorado Avalanche will face off against the Arizona Coyotes on March 26, 2023, in what promises to be an exciting matchup between two Western Conference teams jockeying for playoff position.

The Avalanche have been one of the most dominant teams in the league this season, with a record of 49-19-3, currently placing them first in the Central Division and second in the Western Conference standings. Led by superstar Nathan MacKinnon, who has 98 points in 68 games this season, the Avalanche have one of the most potent offenses in the league. Their defense has also been strong, with goaltender Philipp Grubauer boasting a .926 save percentage and 2.07 goals against average.

The Coyotes, on the other hand, have had a more challenging season, with a record of 24-45-2, currently placing them seventh in the Pacific Division and last in the Western Conference standings. Despite their struggles, the Coyotes have several young players who have shown promise this season, including Conor Garland and Jakob Chychrun.

When these two teams met earlier in the season, the Avalanche came away with a 4-2 victory, thanks to a hat trick from MacKinnon. The Coyotes were led by Garland, who had a goal and an assist in the game.

Heading into this matchup, the Avalanche will be looking to continue their dominance and solidify their position at the top of the Western Conference standings. For the Coyotes, a win would be a much-needed morale boost as they look to finish the season on a high note.

One key matchup to watch in this game will be between MacKinnon and Coyotes defenseman Chychrun. Chychrun has been one of the Coyotes' most consistent players this season, with 36 points in 71 games. However, he will have his work cut out for him against MacKinnon, who has been one of the most dominant players in the league this season.

Overall, this game promises to be an exciting matchup between a dominant Avalanche team and a Coyotes team looking to play spoiler. With MacKinnon leading the way for the Avalanche, and young players like Garland and Chychrun leading the way for the Coyotes, fans can expect a high-energy game with plenty of scoring chances.
