Season Record
Cavaliers: 20-14, 5th place Eastern Conference
Wizards: 17-17, 8th place Eastern Conference
The Cavaliers are winners of 7 of their last 10 games. They have also won 8 of those ten games ATS. The new roster for this season is playing great. Even when the roster gets depleted from Covid absences it seemingly reveals that this is a team that incorporated the new faces and built something with real depth. This is not the same type of Cavs team that finished in the bottom every year they didn’t have LeBron James over the last 20 years. This is a team that can stand on its own two feet with massive upside for growth when Kevin Love’s contract is either moved or comes off the books. Covid does make it tough to really point to the best roster at the moment… they have lost to the New Orleans Pelicans, the Boston Celtics, and the Milwaukee Bucks over the last 10 games.. The Pelican we can definitely chalk up to Covid absences.
The Wizards started the season great… They soared as high as 2nd place in the eastern Conference. The additions from the Lakers: PF Montrezl Harrell, SF Kyle Kuzma, and SG Kentavious Caldwell-Pope were blending really well with SG Bradley Beal and the assortment of castoffs like PF Davis Bertans and PG Spencer Dinwiddie… but then they started to swoon. As we sit right now the Wizards have won only 3 of their last 10 games. Yes, Covid absences played a huge part, but Bradley Beal didn’t test out until today (dec, 29th)... they have simply been failing to match the earlier success.
