Browns - Dolphins preview, analysis and prediction

Last week
Browns: Bye (won 32-13 vs. Bengals in Week 8)
Dolphins: won 35-32 at Bears; third straight win

The AFC East is suddenly wide open, and no team may be more thrilled for such happenings than the Miami Dolphins on a 3-game winning streak. Tua Tagovailoa being healthy has also helped, but the Dolphins keep finding ways to win games and that’s really the most important thing right now.

The Dolphins will try to keep things rolling when they return home to take on the 3-5 Cleveland Browns, who had a long, happy bye week after beating the Cincinnati Bengals on Halloween night two weeks ago. But as it pertains to the Dolphins, this will be a much more difficult task than facing a Bengals team that didn’t have Ja’Marr Chase.

Miami has won nearly every game its won by just one score, but with the Dolphins, it’s all about just winning in general when they’re trying to get back to the playoffs. The Dolphins are coming off a 35-32 win in Chicago last week over the struggling Bears, but Miami was the first team to have some serious struggles against Justin Fields. But Tua was Tua, and that’s all that matters.

Tagovailoa went 21 of 30 for 302 yards and three touchdowns, one of those going to Tyreek Hill along with a game-high 143 yards on 7 catches. Hill has eclipsed 1,000 yards and reaching 2,000 is most certainly within reach. The Dolphins continue to win games, and that’s really all that matters at this rate.

"The resiliency of our team, the resiliency of our guys to continue to fight, to continue to not give up on the game," Tagovailoa said. "Regardless of how close the game is, or how out of hand it might be, we continue to fight, so that's what I am proud of our team to this point."

What’s more surprising of this whole year has just been how good Tua has been. With all the flack he took coming into this year that he couldn’t throw the football, adding Hill has been a godsend for him. Not to mention, he’s really good at being a quarterback and it’s just a good thing to shut everyone else on.

The Browns haven’t had the Tua-like effect at QB, but they’ve gotten a steady hand from Jacoby Brissett during this run. Brissett threw for a season-high 278 yards and a touchdown in Cleveland’s 32-13 win over the defending AFC champs who, once again, were without their No. 1 receiver. But that didn’t stop Myles Garrett from having 1.5 sacks and Deion Jones recording his first sack of the year after being acquired by the Falcons in a trade deadline deal.

"Myles was very good," Browns coach Kevin Stefanki said with a smile. "He does what No. 95 does. He was playing dominant out there. He is very difficult for people to block one on one. He gets a ton of attention, and when that happens, others are getting one on ones."

Prediction

The Browns are going to need Garrett to wreak havoc in order to give themselves a chance to win. They’re within arm’s reach of getting Deshaun Watson back from his 11-game suspension, and if they can get a win here, it’ll be huge. But the way Tua and the Dolphins offense is humming right now, I can’t say I have full confidence in the Browns to get a win on the road. Dolphins by 13
