Cleveland Browns Analysis

The Browns are coming into this game with a 3-1 record overall and they are 1-1 in their road games this season where they will be in this game. They suffered a road loss in their season opener against the Kansas City Chiefs but have come back stronger than ever winning their last 3 games against the Houston Texans, the Chicago Bears, and the Vikings in their last game. Even in that game with the Chiefs they were leading the game for most of it but a few 4th quarter mistakes derailed that game for them or they could easily be an undefeated 4-0 right now. Baker Mayfield did not play the greatest in their last game though, as he completed 15/33 passes for 155 yards, zero touchdowns and zero interceptions. Their running game had a big day as Nick Chubb led the team in rushing with 100 yards on 21 carries while Kareem Hunt was right behind him with 69 yards and 1 touchdown on 14 carries. Rashard Higgins led the receivers with 63 yards on 4 receptions but overall, it was a pretty quiet day for the receiving corps. Malcolm Smith led the defense with 6 solo tackles and 2 assisted ones while Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah was right behind him with 5 solo tackles and 2 assisted ones. Andraez Williams also had a nice day on defense with 4 solo tackles, 2 assisted ones, and he also had the only interception for his team in that game. Takkarist McKinley led the defense in sacks with 1 while Denzel Ward and Myles Garrett both combined for 1 sack. They have scored 100 points in their first 4 games and they have allowed their opponents to score 67 points against them. Their offense has accumulated 1,557 yards this season while their defense has allowed 1,001 yards against them.

Los Angeles Chargers Analysis

The Chargers are coming into this game with a 3-1 record overall and they are 1-1 in their home games this season where they will be in this game. Their 1 loss came against the Dallas Cowboys while they have 3 wins against the Washington Football Team, the Kansas City Chiefs, and the Raiders in their last game. They have now won their last 2 games coming into this one. Justin Herbert had a good game in their last one as he completed 25/38 passes for 222 yards and 3 touchdowns. Austin Ekeler had a great day on the ground as he led the team in rushing with 117 yards and 1 touchdown on 15 carries but he was basically their entire running game in that one. Jared Cook led the receivers with 70 yards and 1 touchdown on 6 receptions while Keenan Allen led the team in receptions with 7 for 36 yards. Overall, it was a pretty quiet day for the receiving corps. Michael Davis led the defense in that game with 4 solo tackles and 1 assisted one. Christian Covington, Kyler Fackrell, Jerry Tillery, and Joey Bosa all had 1 sack each in that game but it was Derwin James who came away with the only interception for them in that one. They have scored 67 points in their first 4 games and they have allowed their opponents to score 60 points against them. Their offense has accumulated 1,184 yards this season while their defense has allowed 1,115 yards against them.

Browns vs Chargers Prediction

Both of these teams have looked really good to start the season. The Browns have played lesser competition to start though. They blew a lead late against the Chiefs to lose that game while the Chargers just kept storming back against the Chiefs when they faced them and they came out with the win. Both teams have a very good defense as well so it will be a little tougher for both offenses to move the ball in this game. The best bet to make in this game is on the Chargers to win on the moneyline as they just look like the better team from their recent games and on the under as this should be a lower scoring, more defensive game with the quality talent on both sides.

Players to Watch

Cleveland Browns: Nick Chubb is one player to watch in this matchup. He leads his team in rushing yards and in touchdowns scored this season. He is coming off of a good performance with 100 rushing yards. If Cleveland is going to win here they will need a good running game to go against this Chargers defense so look for Chubb to make some big runs and help Mayfield get some play action off.

Los Angeles Chargers: Justin Herbert is one player to watch in this contest. His team is now 2-0 in their division and he is putting the NFL on notice with his great play. He is turning out to be the next young star quarterback so look for him to keep playing his best and leading his team to victory.

"The refs are blind. I’m sorry, but you’re blind. Like, open your eyes and do your job. It’s so bad. It’s unbelievable. ... It’s really pathetic, honestly." - Joey Bosa on the refs in their win over the Raiders last Monday night.
