Reds: 23-46, 5th place NL Central
Giants:  38-31, 3rd place NL West

Game 2 of the Giants vs the Reds.  The Giants have lost a couple of games in a row… The Reds have lost a full 7 in a row.  In Game 1 I recommended taking the Reds on the basis of the pitching matchup and that the Giants were struggling…. Game 2 is a full reversal.  The Giants will have the better pitching on the mound simply because the Reds only have that one good, young, pitcher.  Look at the prediction below and hit up your Sportsbook.

A national League matchup between the NL Central worst and the NL West’s middle.  These teams are not terribly close… but the Giants have some issues.  The Reds are only issues… who will play?... Have you ever heard of him?.  However these are the games that bettors look for… where a disappointing better team starts a mook against a bad team and levels the playing field.  Vegas will give you a big payday to bet on the Reds… The Giants are not pushing to win from every angle.  The any given Sunday rule means simply that the Reds could take it… and the payoff is worth the gamble.

The Cincinnati Reds are on a 6-game losing streak.  They have only won 3 of their last 10 games.  In gambling parlance they are due.  They went 0-2 against the Los Angeles Dodgers, 0-3 to the Milwaukee Brewers, 3-1 against the Arizona Diamondbacks, and 0-1 against the ASt Louis Cardinals.  So, in the stretch they have only beaten the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The San Francisco Giants have won 6 of their last ten games.  They went 1-2 against the Atlanta Braves, 2-1 against the Pittsburgh Pirates, 2-1 against the Kansas City Royals, and 0-1 against the Los Angeles Dodgers.  The Giants win and lose and hang in the 3rd place of the NL West spot.  The Reds have a clear chance in Game 1 because the Ginats are taking a deep breather after facing the Braves over the last 3 games.

Reds vs Giants Preview and Analysis

Recent Form

The Reds are 23-45 on the season, 35-30-3 O/U, 11-23 on the road.
The Giants are 38-29 on the season, 33-31-3 O/U, 19-15 on the road.

Offensive Analysis

The Reds are 18th in scoring with 4.31 runs per game, 21st in batting average with .237, and 21st in OBP with .307.  The bats need a wake up call.

The Giants are 4th in scoring with 4.91 runs per game, 17th in batting average with .240, and 5th in OBP with .324.  The bats are scattered throughout the line-up.

Defensive Analysis

The Reds are 30th in team ERA with 5.31… This is why starting this kid with a big arm is important.  27th in WHIP with 1.42, and the fielders are 18th in errors with 39 on the season so far.  The Reds pitching gives up runs… any game they don’t they win… which has only been 23 so far on the season.

The Giants are 15th in Team ERA with 3.94, 16th in WHIP with 1.26, and the fielders are 15th in errors with 37 on the season so far.  The pitching is what needs the big boost.  The Giants are leaving wins on the table since they are 4th in scoring… but 3rd in their division.  They should leave no rock unturned while looking for a guy who can fill a starter spot.

Reds vs Giants Prediction

Our prediction for Saturday, June 25th is…  Giants 7 - Reds 2

The Reds were my prediction for Game 1… but here in Game 2 (Saturday)... The Giants will turn the tide and dominate. The Giants are deeper with better offense… They will come out swinging.

Players to Watch

Reds: LHP Mike Minor, 1-3, 6.97 ERA, 17 strikeouts in 20 innings pitched.  1.50 WHIP.  Get the hook ready.  Mike Minor should be sent to the league that was named after him… except he is really too old to wait for improvement… so maybe it’s time to hang up the cleats?

Giants: RHP Logan Webb, 6-2, 3.26 ERA, 75 strikeouts in 85 innings pitched.  1.16 WHIP.  Logan is having another fantastic season on the mound.
