Blackhawks - Coyotes preview, prediction and analysis

The Chicago Blackhawks will be playing the Arizona Coyotes on Tuesday, February 28 in Tempe, Arizona.

The Chicago Blackhawks lost against the Anaheim Ducks on Monday, February 27 at Honda Center in Anaheim, California with a score of 4-2. The Chicago Blackhawks currently rank 8th in the Central Division.

Tyler Johnson had a goal and an assist, and Petr Mrazek made 29 saves for the Blackhawks (21-33-5). Max Domi had two assists to extend his point streak to seven games (four goals, 10 assists).

"We've got a lot of new players right now, so we're just going to have to find a new rhythm," Chicago coach Luke Richardson said. "These guys have been resilient, and tonight they pushed right through until the end."

Johnson gave Chicago a 1-0 lead at 5:35 of the first period, scoring top shelf over Dostal's blocker from the left circle off a cross-ice pass from Domi. The goal came on the second of overlapping power plays after Trevor Zegras was called for slashing at 2:58, and Simon Benoit for hooking at 4:29.

"I thought we did well on the special teams," Richardson said.

Isac Lundestrom tied it 1-1 at 13:18, taking a cross-ice pass from Terry and scoring off the far post from the left circle. Jakob Silfverberg put the Ducks in front 2-1 at 19:14 when he redirected a pass from John Klingberg in the slot on a power play.

Andreas Athanasiou tied it 2-2 at 13:11 of the second period with a one-timer from the right circle off a pass from Domi for another power-play goal.

Anaheim scored two more goals making the final score 4-2.

The Chicago Blackhawks have won six of their last 10 games.

The Arizona Coyotes lost against the Nashville Predators on Sunday, February 26 at Mullett Arena in Tempe, Arizona with a score of 6-2. The Arizona Coyotes currently rank 7th in the Central Division.

Nick Schmaltz scored in his third consecutive game and had an assist, and Connor Ingram made 28 saves for the Coyotes (20-30-9), who have lost two straight following a nine-game point streak (5-0-4).

"We said it before the game, we've got to get pucks behind them," Arizona defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere said. "I think we did it for some points in that game, but we've got to stick with it for a full 60 [minutes]."

Gostisbehere gave Arizona a 1-0 lead at 5:55 of the first period, scoring a short-handed goal on a partial breakaway off a give-and-go with Schmaltz.

Yakov Trenin tied it 1-1 at 9:02. With Ingram out of position following a save near the left post on Philip Tomasino, Trenin had his rebound attempt go in off the skate of Coyotes defenseman Troy Stecher.

Matt Duchene gave the Predators a 2-1 lead at 13:48, scoring off Ingram on a one-timer from the goal line off a backhand pass by Glass.

Roman Josi extended it to 3-1 at 2:39 of the second period with a wrist shot from the right face-off circle before Schmaltz cut it to 3-2 at 7:27, scoring on a wrist shot from the slot.

Nashville proceeded to score three more goals, resulting in the final score of 6-2.

Nashville was 2-for-3 with the man-advantage. Arizona was 0-for-5.

"We had a tough time creating [offense], had a tough time getting inside, and our power play didn't create enough," Coyotes coach Andre Tourigny said. "The special teams made a difference."

The Arizona Coyotes have won four of their last 10 games.
