Charlotte Hornets Analysis

The Hornets are coming into this game with a 1-0 record to start their season off. They won their season opener at home against the Indiana Pacers 123-122. The Hornets were awful in the 1st half of that game as they were trailing by 16 points at halftime. They came out and completely dominated the 2nd half though, completing their comeback to win that game by 1 point just squeaking by. LaMelo Ball absolutely went off in that game with 31 points, 7 assists and 9 rebounds in a game where he led the team. Gordon Hayward also had a great game scoring 27 points himself along with 3 assists and 5 rebounds. Ball led the team in assists in that game with his 7 while Mason Plumlee led the team in rebounds with 10. The Hornets opened up as a 2.5 point favorite in that game and the spread dropped to 1.5 by tip off while the point total opened at 228.5 and got down to 223, give or take, at most books by the time the line closed. The Hornets failed to cover the spread with their 1 point win but the moneyline did cash in that game. The game also went over the total whether you bet it at open or close as there were 245 total points in that game.

Cleveland Cavaliers Analysis

The Cavs are coming into this game with a 0-1 record to start their season off. They lost their first game of the season to the Memphis Grizzlies 132-121 on the road and will now be at home for their home opener in this game. The Cavs kept it close in the 1st quarter of that game but then took a flop in the 2nd quarter going down 12 points into halftime. They came out in the 3rd quarter and made a comeback cutting their deficit to 5 by the end but then blew it in the 4th quarter letting the game get away from them again. Jarrett Allen led the team in points with 25 along with 1 assist and 1 rebound. Collin Sexton and Evan Mobley were 2nd on the team with 17 points each as well. Mobley had 6 assists and 9 rebounds in that game while Sexton had 1 of each. Darius Garlund led the team in assists with 12 while Mobley and Lauri Markkanen both led the team in rebounds with 9 each. The Cavs opened that game as an 8 point underdog with the spread coming down to 7 by close while the point total opened at 217.5 points roughly moving up by 1 point at most books. They did not cover that spread, losing the game by 12 points while the game went over the total with 253 total points.

Hornets vs Cavaliers Prediction

The Hornets are coming into this game as a 2.5 point favorite with the current betting odds according to Draftkings Sportsbook. The Cavs have been bad for a few years now, basically since Lebron James left the team again after winning the Championship with them. They were very up and down in their first game with some good quarters and some very bad ones as well. Charlotte is not great but they have a better starting lineup than the Cavs do and are just the better team in general. The Hornets showed a lot of resilience to make the comeback that they did against the Pacers and win the game on top of it all. The best bet to place in this game is on the Hornets to win the game on the moneyline as they are the better team but they were favored by this number in their last game and won but did not cover.
