CFL System of the Week - 08/07/26

The CFL season will be at its mid-point after this weekend, so most of the games in the 2nd half of the season will involve rematches.  This Saturday, there are two re-matches of games played in Week 3:  Hamilton will play at British Columbia, while Montreal will host Edmonton.  Both home teams in these games will be playing with revenge, as Montreal lost to the Elks, 32-29, as a 3-point road favorite, while the Lions lost to the Tiger-Cats, 41-27, as a 2-point road underdog.  Each of those two games went OVER the total, which isn't surprising, as the CFL season started off with 13 of the first 15 games sailing OVER the total (due, in part, to a 35-second play clock designed to speed up the pace of the game).  But since that hot start to the OVERS, the oddsmakers made the necessary adjustments, and the UNDER are 11-7 since July 3.

For our CFL System of the Week, we're going to look at the Hamilton/British Columbia match-up.  That first meeting generated 68 points, and went OVER the total of 58 by 10 points.  It was also the 6th straight OVER played by the teams in this series.  The knee-jerk reaction might be to look for another high-scoring game.  But be careful.  Consider that the UNDER has gone 80-53-2 in the season's 2nd meeting after the first meeting tallied 63+ points.  But that's not the best part.  If the O/U line of the 2nd meeting was greater than 51 points, then our 80-53-2 stat zooms to 58-24-2.

Look for the Lions and Tiger-Cats to go UNDER the total on Saturday.
