CFB Four Teams to Buy Low ATS

Now that we have seen one third of the regular season in college football, I want to take a look at some teams that you might find value buying low ATS on a week to week basis.

Georgia Tech (0-4 ATS Average ATS Margin -7.9 Points) Georgia Tech has actually played quite a few games close to the spread, but the average bettor is going to see a Power 4 team that hasn’t covered a spread and want to fade them. That is a dangerous way of thinking. I’ll look for spots to bet Georgia Tech as an underdog. Brent Key has been money in the bank in past years as an underdog. Georgia Tech looks to be an underdog in almost every game the rest of the season. Is this team good? No. Could they go on a point spread covering streak? Yes.

Wyoming (1-3 ATS Average ATS Margin -7.8 Points) Wyoming started the season out playing some terrible football. The Cowboys looked much better this past weekend in defeating Hawaii at home. Wyoming is starting to get back to its old formula of running the football and trying to win lower scoring battles. They toyed with the idea of throwing and playing faster earlier in the season, and it just wasn’t working out. The Cowboys have an amazing home field advantage in Laramie, and they will sneak up on some teams.

Texas Tech (1-3 ATS Average ATS Margin -10.3 Points) The Red Raiders aren’t quite the dominant force they were expected to be, but they are getting better by the week. I’d be real careful about writing off a team with this much potential. The Red Raiders are clearly the most talented team in the Big 12. If they can put it all together, I think they still have a chance to get red hot even on an ATS basis. The Red Raiders ground game has slowly been putting it together, and if that continues they’ll be really dangerous.

Old Dominion (0-4 ATS Average ATS Margin -12.5 Points) Old Dominion is one of the best defenses in the Sun Belt. I do really like Ricky Rahne their head coach. They clearly miss Colton Joseph badly. He transferred to Wisconsin and helped the Badgers to their comeback win in State College. The Monarchs just don’t have another quarterback who can make a bunch of explosive plays. Old Dominion should be able to cover as an underdog with their defense down the stretch though.
