Brown - Princeton preview, prediction and analysis

Recent form
Brown: won 80-66 vs. Cornell
Princeton: lost 83-76 at Dartmouth

While the Yale Bulldogs have to deal with their own big game this weekend in terms of staying at the top of the Ivy League standings, the Princeton Tigers and the Brown Bears have their own dealings to go with. The two will face off on Friday in Princeton with the winner seemingly staking a claim for first place in the Ivy League.

I think based on how we look at the last couple of games in general, I think we know that Yale is the best team in this conference. The way that they score, the way that they defend, it's just an overall complete effort from Yale that we haven't seen from any other team. But the cluster that is from first through 4th place with Princeton, brown, and Pennsylvania, is truly something exciting to watch.

Princeton is an exciting offensive team that is averaging close to 77 points per game. Defensively, they give up a little much as evidence of the 83-76 loss at Dartmouth on Saturday. But this team can score with the best of them and this team has proven that they can win any sort of offensive battle that you put in front of them. Brown is going to be an interesting foe because with them coming into this matchup on a three-game winning streak, they have been putting up more points than usual, especially with the 80 they scored in the 14 point victory over Cornell last Saturday.

Princeton is led by their all around star forward Tosan Evbuomwan, who averages 14.4 points and 4.7 assists per game. The young man is coming off a 23 point effort along with nine rebounds and six assists despite Princeton losing by 7 to Dartmouth. If there was any indication as to whose fault it was for this game it definitely was not Evbuomwan. he did his part and missed only four shots. The rest of the team did not as Princeton shot 39.7% from the field and just nine of 30 from 3 point range. No one could stop Dartmouth shooting 50% from the floor and making all but one of their 19 free throw attempts.

Brown has a very unique balanced attack that I don't think a lot of people really notice. But especially in the Ivy League, there is a lot of talent that this team needs to utilize going forward. Led by star guard Kino Lilly Jr., brown was able to dominate this game over Cornell with him scoring 23 points on 9 of 12 shooting, as the bears shot 53.7% from the floor and went 10 of 24 from behind the three-point line. When you're that efficient shooting the ball, you do not need to worry about going 12 and 19 from the free throw line. At least that's the way I see it.

Prediction

This is going to be a very fun weekend for the ideal league as things start to take shape in the standings. Princeton is laying 6.5 in this game and that seems like a very reasonable number considering how the spread has not affected anyone under any circumstances over the last number of games. Princeton at home should deliver and start charging for what's to come for Yale. Princeton 78, Brown 70
