NBA Standings

Nets: 32-29, 8th place Eastern Conference
Raptors: 32-27, 7th place Eastern Conference

An Eastern Conference matchup between Titans that have seen better days.  The Eastern Conference is bunched at the top… the Chicago Bulls, the Miami Heat, the Philadelphia 76ers that just birthed a new winning tandem… It’s all quality teams.  The Nets and the Raptors are not in that mix.  The Nets could be if everyone gets healthy and vaccinated by the playoffs… At the moment the Nets are a losing team that is dropping in the standings.  They have SF/PG Ben Simmons who at the moment is too scared to play. The Raptors are in the middle of a weird rebuild.  The Raptors were champions just 3 seasons ago… and while they have still been a good team they have been adding pieces to get back to the mountaintop. The Raptors added Scottie Barnes in the NBA draft last season… the rookie is the future.  A real killer that plays any position.  A real killer that will lose the ROY award but take his team to great heights when the team is finally turned over to him.   We all love Pascal Siakim and Fred VanVleet… but the Raptors are a Scottie Barnes team now… those other two will look good in the package going out to get Nikola Jokic or whoever needs some rings and has an agent that knows what they are doing.  This game will be the second of a back-to-back!  The two teams will play in Brooklyn, where Kyrie can’t play… then get on a plane and go to a country Kyre can’t go to… to play again.  The Nets will lose both big.  The Raptors will jump.  Lets make some money.

The Brooklyn Nets have only won 3 of their last ten games.  They are bad.  The last stretch of ten games was also a 3-7 over ten affair.  In fact since Kevin Durant got hurt the team has fallen from 4th to 8th in the east.  20 games with only 6 wins.  They are 4-5-1 ATS in their last ten games… so they have not been a great betting opportunity at all.  The problem with the Nets is much discussed; they have 3 NBA all-pro players who are simply not playing right now.  The team you see now may not be the team you see if they are able to hold on to a playoff or play-in spot.  My Brooklyn sources say that Kevin Durant looks great in practice and will be back… my agency sources tell me only if Kevin is confident of an outcome will he be ready to comeback.  Sucks that Be Simmons isn’t playing yet… or that Kyrie Irving lives in an eternal fog of “ME”.  The Nets have role players now thanks to the Philly trade to get Ben Simmons, but at the same time they strengthened their biggest competitor in the East by giving them a Hall of Famer with tread left on the tires.

The Toronto Raptors have won only 6 of their last ten games.  They went 6-4 ATs during that span they are 5 Over and 5 Under in that stretch.  PF Pascal Siakam recently took over the mantle of “leading scorer” from PG Fred VanVleet.  The results have been positive. Fred is still effective and still leads the team in assists.  The team itself is loaded with quality players from rookie Scottie Barnes and SG Garyt Trent Jr playing better than anyone thought they would.  The team will need a deep run in order to stay together… heck even to stay relevant because this team is soon to belong to Scottie Barnes… and if it does the others have to go for players that will compliment the rookie.  The player the team lost on is PF Chris Boucher… a good defender who the Raptors were hoping would learn to score more through putbacks and athletic plays.  Chris has obviously not worked the way Pascal and Fred have.  PF Precious Anchiuwa is taking Chris Boucher’s minutes… and they didn;t let Chris develop value before that could happen.  The future of this team has to be now… or the future of this team is letting Masai Ujiri go All Out in the offseason.

Brooklyn Nets vs Toronto Raptors Game Prediction

Our prediction for Tuesday, March 1st is….   Raptors 121 - Nets 108

The Nets will not win in a game that Kyrie Irving, Ben Simmons, and Kevin Durant do not play… especially when Toronto is a good team.  Kyrie can not play in this game because the earth is flat.  Ben Simmons can not play in this game because he is scared to face Philly on March 10th… and Kevin Durant can not play in this game because of injury.  The only fun thing about this broadcast will be Goran Dragic going against his former team that gave up on him. The Raptors didn’t really give up oono Goran as he was never in their plans to begin with.
