Falcons - Commanders preview, analysis and prediction

Last week
Falcons: won 27-24 vs. Bears
Commanders: won 23-10 at Texans

All aboard the Taylor Heinicke bandwagon. It only took a bit, and it took a few wins in general for the Washington Commanders to realize they had a good quarterback this entire time and they didn't need to trade for Carson Wentz, but Washington is above .500 and is very much alive in this playoff hunt that is a very crowded one in the NFC.

The commanders return home and will take on the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday at home, a game where Atlanta is in dire need of some sort of good news. After the Falcons did hang on to defeat the Chicago Bears 27-24 last week, a disappointing season for fantasy owners and fans of the Falcons alike came to fruition this week with tight end Kyle Pitts out for the season likely due to an MCL injury. If you were like me and just dropped him for the first time because you just didn't know what direction you wanted to go with Pitts, congratulations the decision is made for you.

So already a struggling offense that has failed to get anything going through the air with Marcus Mariota at quarterback now is without its top tight end and has to refer to using rookies everywhere in the worst opportune situations. It's not easy for a team to contain Justin fields long enough to win a game like this, but that's exactly what happened here and that's exactly why Atlanta is still alive in this run.

And notably, I would want to talk about the good players on Atlanta. The likes of Cordarrelle Patterson becoming the all-time leader in kickoff returns for a touchdown. Because if I look at this Atlanta offense that is without question the lone bright spot for Atlanta this year. And until they find some other bright spot, it's going to be a long road back for Atlanta.

And again I am not sure what's going on with the commanders, what has gotten into them at this moment, but all we know is the miracle kid that could that is Washington quarterback has won five of his last six starts and he's looking for his third home start in a row with at least two touchdown passes. There is no way I think anybody really expected Washington to need these kinds of victories but they have absolutely 100% been able to do so and now we're in a position where a victory could put them into second place in the NFC East. And if you thought that was wild then I don't know what to tell you with this show.

Prediction

I still don't trust Atlanta. There's nothing they can do that can convince me that they will find a way to score more then 10 points today impossible to fathom? Possibly not really. But we know that there is a point in some point as it pertains to the commanders that they should lose at some point because of this team. As a result, I'm taking Washington in what should be a fantastic game. Commanders by 14
