Atlanta Falcons Analysis

The ATL Falcons are coming into this matchup after losing their home opener against the Eagles by almost 30 points. Quarterback Matt Ryan did not play well completing 21/35 passes for 164 yards, zero touchdowns, and zero interceptions. They were not able to establish much of a run game as Cordarrelle Patterson led the team with 54 rushing yards on 7 carries. Mike Davis actually had the biggest workload with 15 carries but only managed to get 49 yards rushing. The receiving corps had a very quiet day as Calvin Ridley led them with 51 yards on 5 receptions. A.J. Terrell and Duron Harmon both led the defense with 6 solo tackles and 1 assisted one each. No one on the defense had an interception in the game but Jacob Tuioti-Mariner came away with the only sack for his team. The Falcons were only able to score 6 points while they allowed their opponents to score 32 against them. Their offense is averaging 260 YPG while their defense is allowing 434 YPG.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers Analysis

The TB Bucs are coming into this game after a close 2 point win against the Cowboys in week 1. Tom Brady played well but also struggled at times as he completed 32/50 passes for 379 yards, 4 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. Leonard Fournette led the team in rushing with 32 yards on 9 carries but they did not really run the ball a whole lot in that game. The receivers had a massive day though. Antonio Brown led the way with 121 receiving yards and 1 TD on 5 receptions. Chris Godwin also had a great day with 105 receiving yards and 1 TD on 9 receptions. Rob Gronkowski also saw a lot of action as he had 90 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns on 8 receptions. Devin White led the defense with 8 solo tackles and 2 assisted ones. Shaquil Barrett recorded the only sack in the game for them while Carlton Davis came up with the 1 interception for his team. The Bucs' offense scored 31 points in that game and they allowed their opponents to score 29 points against them. Their offense is averaging 431 YPG and their defense is allowing 451 YPG.

Falcons vs Buccaneers Prediction

The Falcons looked really bad in week 1. They have struggled for years now and it looks like nothing has changed for them. They are now going on the road against the defending Super Bowl Champions and this will not turn out well for them. The Bucs are coming off of a high scoring game already. The Falcons offense may still be garbage in this game but they have to do a little better than 6 points. They will be playing from behind too so they will need to throw the ball more and they do have a talented receiver to make those catches. This game is going to go over the total. Between a high scoring Tampa team and an Atlanta team that just needs to do better in this game, there will be a lot of points in this divisional matchup.

Players to Watch

Atlanta Falcons: Calvin Ridley is one player to watch in this game. He leads the team in receiving and is now the star wide receiver on this team. They had an awful showing in their last game failing to score even a touchdown. Look for him to find the end zone here as the Falcons step up their play.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Ronald Jones is one player to watch in this game. He is coming off of a great year last season and will be looking to play better in this one as he was quiet in the last game. Look for him to get some touches here and make some good runs.
