Atlanta Braves Analysis

The Braves are coming into this game with a 3-3 record overall and they will be playing their first road game of the regular season in this game. They have lost 2 of their last 3 games and are coming into this one off of a win in their last game which snapped a 2 game losing streak that they were on. They just tied their 4-game series against the Cincinnati Reds 2-2 and they are playing the series opener of a 4-game series with the Padres on Thursday night. This will be the 1st game of the series on Thursday night with the series finale of their series with the Washington Nationals still to be played on Wednesday night. Max Fried is the starting pitcher for them on Wednesday while Charlie Morton will be on the mound for them here on Thursday. He is 1-0 with a 3.38 ERA this season. His team won his first game this season with him as a starter. In his last start, he allowed 2 ER, 0 HRs, and 1 BB with 5 Ks on 2 hits in 5.1 IP against the Cincinnati Reds. They scored 18 runs in their last series averaging just under 9 runs scored per game in that span and they allowed 15 runs against them averaging 7.5 runs allowed per game with the final game of that series still pending.

San Diego Padres Analysis

The Padres are coming into this game with a 4-2 record overall and they will be playing their first home game this season where they will be in this game. They have won 4 of their last 5 games but they are coming off of a loss in their last game which snapped a 4 game winning streak that they were on. They just won their 4-game series against the Arizona Diamondbacks 3-1 and they are playing the series opener of a 4-game series with the Braves on Thursday night. This will be the 1st game of the series on Thursday night with the final game of their series with the San Francisco Giants still to be played on Wednesday. Sean Manaea is the starter for them on Wednesday while Joe Musgrove will be throwing the first pitch for them here on Thursday. He is 0-0 with a 3.00 ERA this season. His team won his first game with him as the starter. In his last start, he allowed 2 earned runs, 1 homer, and 0 BB with 8 strikeouts on 5 hits through 6 innings played against the Arizona Diamondbacks. They scored 6 runs in their last series averaging 3 runs scored per game in that span and they allowed 15 runs against them averaging just over 7.5 run allowed per game with the final game of that series still pending.

Braves vs Padres Prediction

The Braves are coming into this game off to a bad start to the season already and it seems like they have a little hangover from winning the World Series last season. They have a solid pitcher starting in this game in Charlie Morton but the Braves have been lacking runs in a lot of their games. They just had a big game where they scored 16 runs on the Nationals but other than that game, they have not really been scoring a lot of runs in their games. They are going up against a Padres team that also has a solid pitcher in Musgrove starting and he had a pretty good first game already. The difference here though is that the padres have been hitting much better than the Braves and they have been scoring a lot of runs in their games. Both of these teams have good pitchers starting in this game but the Braves will not be able to offer Morton run support like the Padres will and that should be the difference in this game. The Padres will win this game by 2 or more runs.

"I don't know if I even have the words yet. Really, really cool. I want to thank Bob Melvin and Gabe Kapler for letting us do the lineup cards.
