Diamondbacks vs Padres Prediction

The current betting odds have the Diamondbacks listed as a slight underdog in this game according to Draftkings Sportsbook. The Diamondbacks haven't been good lately as there was a time when they were leading the NL West and now sit in 3rd place with a record barely over .500. The Padres have been terrible all season though as they still sit under .500 on the year and have had a terrible offense all year while the Diamondbacks actually have a really good offense that has been all year. The Diamondbacks are also going to be looking to use this series to not only hurt the Padres playoff chances but improve theirs as they try to get into a Wild Card spot. Kelly is on the mound for the Diamondbacks here and he has been lights out for them all season, not giving up many runs in his starts lately either. He will continue to pitch well here since this Padres offense hasn't been hitting well lately or all season and the Padres are also going with Darvish on the mound who hasn't been great. Darvish had a great season last year but has been giving up a ton of runs this season, even giving up 4 runs in his last start. The Diamondbacks have been starting to hit a lot better again and they will take advantage of any scoring opportunities they get while Kelly keeps them right in this game with a great outing. The best way to place a bet here is on the Diamondbacks to win this game.

Notable Quotes

“That was a pretty intense atmosphere. Our dugout erupted after that final strike was called. We were all really excited for him. It was a good moment for this team. This team is playing good baseball. To be honest, we're gassed. I know this group is very tired coming out of the altitude in Colorado. This was a fatigued team today that went out there and won a baseball game and that's what I'm most proud of." - Torey Lovullo after his team’s win against the Padres in their game on Thursday.

“I kid with him that he’s a witch and he rides his broom around the bases and that's pretty much what happened there. When he takes off, everybody just gets nervous. Very rarely are you going to see that.” - Bob Melvin on Fernando Tatis Jr after his team’s win against the Orioles in their game on Wednesday.
