Mountaineers vs Hurricanes Prediction

The Appalachian State Mountaineers are coming into this college football game sitting in 3rd place of the Sun Belt Group A with a 1-0 record. They won their season opener against East Carolina 33-19. Chase Brice had a good game for App State in their last game as he completed 20/27 passes for 259 yards, 2 touchdowns and 1 interception. Their running game was great in that one too. Nate Noel led the team in rushing with 126 yards on 15 carries. Camerun Peoples also had a great game rushing for 100 yards and 2 touchdowns on 14 carries. Thomas Hennigan also had a great game leading his team in receiving yards with 114 and 1 touchdown on 4 receptions. Corey Sutton also caught 1 touchdown pass on 4 receptions for 52 yards. D'Marco Jackson led the defense with 5 solo tackles and 3 assists while Ryan Huff caught the 1 interception for them in this game. Brendan Harrington led the team in sacks with 2 while Nich Hampton and Tim Frizzell both recorded 1 each.

The Miami Hurricanes are coming into this matchup sitting in 6th place of the ACC Coastal with a 0-1 record. They lost their first game of the season to Alabama 44-13. D'Eriq King struggled a bit in their last game completing 23/30 passes for 179 yards, 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions. Their running game did absolutely nothing in that one as Cam'Ron Harris led his team with 37 rushing yards on 12 carries. The receivers were also quiet in this game with Xavier Restrepo leading them with 55 receiving yards and 1 touchdown on 3 receptions. No other player had more than 50 yards receiving in that game. Tyrique Stevenson led the defense in that game with 5 solo tackles and 4 assisted ones. Chantz Williams recorded the only sack for them in that game. The stats do look real bad for them in that first game but keep in mind they were facing the best team in the country ranked number 1 on the AP poll.

Miami was not able to do much in their last game but they were going up against one of the best offenses and defenses in college football. App State put up some great numbers last week but were playing a very bad East Carolina team. App State was very run heavy in that game and will likely stick to that plan in this game to control the pace against the Hurricanes. Miami is bound for a better game after last week and should play a bit better here especially on defense. This should be a lower scoring game giving some value on the under in this one

Players to Watch

Appalachian State Mountaineers: Camerun Peoples is one player to watch in this game. He had 100 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns in the last game he played in. They will need him to run the ball well and eat up some clock on long drives if they want to eat away at this Miami team and win the game.

Miami Hurricanes: D’Eriq King is one player to watch in these road and home games. His team did not have much going in the run game last week so the pressure will fall on him to lead his offense and move the ball down the field. Watch for him to make the big plays if he wants his team to win this game.

"College football is famous for its overreactions after Week 1. We don't get our story written one game into the season." - Manny Diaz after a big loss to Alabama in their first game of the season.
