Coyotes - Ducks preview, prediction and analysis

Recent results
Ducks: lost 6-3 at Sabres
Coyotes: won 4-1 vs. Golden Knights

The Anaheim Ducks will be playing the Arizona Coyotes on Tuesday, January 24 in Tempe, Arizona.

The Anaheim Ducks lost against the Buffalo Sabres last Saturday, January 21 in Buffalo, New York with a score of 6-3. The Anaheim Ducks currently rank 8th in the Pacific Division. Trevor Zegras had two goals and an assist, and John Gibson made 33 saves for the Ducks.

"Just mental mistakes," Anaheim coach Dallas Eakins said. "It's a game that we're totally in, we battle back. Two of their goals the third period, one's a bad change, which is totally mental, has nothing to do with anything else. A turnover in the neutral zone turns into a breakaway where we had a very easy play the other way, and those are the things that kills us. Absolutely kill us. And we're a team, an obviously rebuilding team, that we have to play a perfect game to be in the game, that's just the way it is where we're at as an organization. Those mental mistakes can't happen."

Buffalo scored the first two goals of the game putting the Sabres 2-0. Zegras then tied up the score with his two goals.

"His play is greatly improving always," Eakins said. "He's obviously an offensive threat all the time, he's gotten much better defensively and managing the puck, and his growth continues."

Sabres got ahead again with a shot from Peyton Krebs, but Simon Benoit's shot from above the right circle through traffic tied it 3-3 at 15:29.

"I think the first two goals we kind of, I don't want to say gave to them, but I guess kicked ourselves in the rear end a little bit," Zegras said. "I feel like that's what we've been doing lately, coming from behind, so I wasn't surprised that we got it tied up. Obviously, the third period, they came out with some good jam, made a couple of good plays."

The Anaheim Ducks have won three of their last 10 games.

The Arizona Coyotes won against the Vegas Golden Knights Sunday, January 22 in Tempe, Arizona with a score of 4-1. The Arizona Coyotes currently rank 7th in the Central Division. Clayton Keller had a hat trick for the Arizona Coyotes.

"It's nice to see some go in," said Keller, who had two points (one goal, one assist) in his previous 10 games. "It's a long season and you're going to go through tough times, and maybe you don't get the bounces you deserve, but something I've learned is not getting frustrated and sticking with it."

Dylan Guenther also scored, Nick Schmaltz had two assists, and Karel Vejmelka made 35 saves for the Coyotes.

The Arizona Coyotes have won two of their last 10 games.
