Air Force - Wyoming preview, analysis and prediction

Last week
Air Force: won 41-10 vs. Colorado
Wyoming: won 33-10 vs. Northern Colorado

At the very least, the Air Force Falcons have done what they needed to do against inferior opponents. And I'd be very convinced in calling the Colorado Buffaloes an inferior team because of where they'd be in the Pac-12 pecking order.

Nevertheless, it's a strong start to the season for the Falcons, winning their first two games by scoring a combined 89 points. That might strike the fear of God into the Wyoming Cowboys at home, whom Air Force is playing on Friday in Laramie.

Air Force started with two games at home and essentially dominated each of them. With wins over Northern Iowa and Colorado, the Falcons are off to a strong start reminiscent of how last year went. They won two straight, including a win at Navy, before opening conference play with a thrilling 49-45 loss to Utah State at home.

But when you're talking about a potentially favorable schedule for Air Force, this might be it. After this trip to Wyoming, it's two more home games against Nevada-Reno and Navy. At the very least, a 5-0 start could be in the cards for the Falcons.

Air Force fullback Brad Roberts went for 174 yards and three touchdowns in the win over Colorado. The option attack of Air Force resulted in 435 rushing yards and five touchdowns, while Haaziq Daniels only had to throw the ball five times and got one completion.

"It's an awesome feeling (to beat Colorado)," said Roberts, who is from a Denver suburb. "We played a really good game and our defense really stepped up to the plate."

Air Force has received votes for the top 25 and is coming close to being the best team in the Mountain West. That, of course, takes a little bit more time but with the rest of the conference in a weird lull right now, I wouldn't put it past the Falcons.

"I'm trying to make (fullback) hip again," Roberts cracked. "I love being a fullback, especially the way we run our fullbacks in this offense. It's awesome."

Wyoming, meanwhile, has bounced back nicely after getting smacked by Illinois in Week 0. The Cowboys won by 3 in double overtime on Sept. 3, and then won 33-10 this past week over Northern Colorado. Quarterback Aaron Peasley was not great, throwing for just 144 yards on 19 of 30 passing.

The offense came from running back Titus Swen, who ran for 76 yards and three touchdowns on just 15 carries.

Air Force has been great on the books over the last few years, going 12-6 ATS as a favorite. Following an over, the Falcons are 7-1. Meanwhile, Wyoming is just 10-12 ATS in its last 22 but is 4-1 as a home underdog the past three years.

Prediction

It's a big number and normally a road team wouldn't dominate like this one. I like Air Force to possibly win the conference if it keeps this up, which I think it will. Air Force by 21

Air Force is 10-1 ATS the past three years after gaining 350 rushing yards or more the previous game.
