Atlanta Braves vs New York Mets Over 8.5 (+100) (Caesars)
Ian Anderson and Taijuan Walker both own CSW% below 26.0 this season despite both being nine-game winners. Anderson is coming off a great start in his last outing, but he has been unreliable this season with a 4.99 ERA and a 1.50 WHIP. The offense for the Braves has bailed him out to produce a solid record and the ‘over’ is 10-7-3 in his starts. Atlanta has had some recent bullpen challenges with a 4.18 ERA in the past 10 games and the same is true for the Mets with a 5.67 bullpen ERA in the past 10 games. These teams had 10 runs last night with five home runs and while there was some good two-out fortune last night, these NL East contenders reached 10 runs with only three hits with runners in scoring position in the entire game. A pair of Cy Young contenders combined to allow 11 hits and nine runs last night and tonight’s starting pitching pairing is not as strong. Anderson has been the worst Atlanta starter and he has allowed four or more runs seven times in his last 13 starts, featuring a 5.68 ERA in that span with a 4.3 BB/9. Walker has a 9-2 record, but he has not been dominant and his xFIP is more than a run higher than his ERA. His K/9 is less than 7.0 and he has not had to face this elite Atlanta offense yet. In four of his last seven starts he has allowed at least three runs and zeroes on the scoreboard seem unlikely in this pairing of top five MLB scoring teams. Thank you for playing with Nelly’s and Best of Luck.
