The Dodgers are coming into this game playing very well in their recent games. They have won their last 5 straight and 8 of their last 9 games. They just swept the Giants in a 4-game series and their offense has been great in those games as they have been averaging over 7 runs scored per game in that series. That offense has stretched back to their last 2 series and they have been playing so well recently that they now have the best record in the MLB. Their pitching has also been great in these games though as they have only allowed 3 runs in their last 2 games and have been averaging around that many runs allowed per game in their last 7 games. They are going up against a Padres team that just loaded up heavily at the trade deadline but they are still coming off of a loss in their last game and their offense continues to be inconsistent as they score a lot in some games and nothing in others. The Dodgers are still the better team with their lineup and pitching staff and they will show that here with a win over the Padres in this game. The Dodgers have Tony Gonsolin starting here and he is 12-1 with a 2.41 ERA this season. He has not been pitching well recently as he is averaging 4 runs allowed per game over his last 3 starts but this is still a guy who has been pitching lights out all season and he will bounce back with a better performance in this game. He has been getting better and better in each of his last 3 starts as he has allowed less and less runs in this rough stretch, and the team has still won 10 of their last 11 games with him as the starter. The Padres have Sean Manaea starting here and he is 6-5 with a 4.25 ERA this season. He has not been pitching very well this season as he allowed a lot of runs in a lot of his starts and that has continued in his recent starts as well. He has allowed at least 2 runs in each of his last 8 straight starts and he has only had 1 start this season out of his 19 starts where he did not allow a single run, that start was his very first of the season. He consistently allows runs in every start and he is coming off of a start where he allowed 2 runs, but just prior to that start he had one where he was charged with 4 earned runs but allowed 9 runs to be scored on his watch in that game. He will not be able to hold off the Dodgers lineup here with how hot they have been and the Padres will struggle to score runs themselves on Gonsolin and this bullpen. The Dodgers will win this game and keep on their streak here.
