#927 NY YANKEES with Cortes Jr (-) over St. Louis with Hudson at 8:15 PM EST Off a pair of home losses to the M's and with a day of rest, the Bronx Bombers will have no trouble hitting the road and grabbing a win over this exhausted Cardinals bunch. St. Louis just won two at home against Chicago (Cubs) yesterday and the Redbirds will have trouble when they step up in class and battle one of the best in MLB. Sizzling left-hander Nestor Cortes will grab the pearl for the Pinstripes. In 2022, No. 65 has made 19 starts and been touched for only 30 earned runs and 85 hits in 106.2 innings of work. Cortes whiffed 111 and walked 24 on his way to an outstanding 9-3 tally with a powerful 2.53 ERA. Nestor has been a beast in his last three outings too. Facing the Royals, O's, and Reds, Cortes was nicked for just three earned runs and 15 hits in 18.0 frames. That's good enough for a 2-0 record and a strong 1.50 ERA. Righty Dakota Hudson will counter for the home team. With 19 starts in the books this year, No. 43 has been slapped for 46 earned runs and 93 hits in 101.0 innings. Hudson struck out 54 and walked 44 on his way to a 6-6 mark with a 4.10 ERA. In four July outings, Dakota was average at best too. Facing the Nats, Dodgers, Phillies, and Braves, Hudson was hacked for 12 earned runs and 21 hits in 21.0 frames. That's bad enough for an 0-2 record and a rough 5.14 ERA. Several strong team trends back this investment. New York has tasted victory in 19 of its last 26 when playing of Friday, 38 of its last 52 in the first game of a series, 52 of its last 73 against NL Central foes, and 30 of its last 44 when coming off a loss. On the other side of Busch Stadium, St. Louis has fallen in 36 of its last 53 when lined up against teams from the American League East. The Yankees have won 48 of their last 71 under the lights and they'll have no trouble extending the margin this tired Cardinals bunch. Take New York with Cortes. Thanks and best of luck, Tom.
