Analysis
#970 SEATTLE with Gonzales (-) over Oakland with Logue at 9:40 PM EST After getting thumped in four games in Beantown, Seattle will return home to the friendly confines of T-Mobile Park and do a number on this struggling Oakland squad. The A's have dropped seven of their last 10 battles and they'll continue to have issues on this trip. Up on the bump for the home team will be southpaw Marco Gonzales. In his last two outings against a couple of good teams in the Blue Jays and Mets, No. 7 was touched for only two earned runs and 10 hits in 12.2 innings of work. Gonzales fanned seven and walked six on his way to a 1-0 tally with a strong 1.42 ERA. Overall, with eight starts in the bank this year, Marco was nicked for only 13 earned runs and 41 hits in 38.0 frames. After the math, that equates to a respectable 3.08 ERA. Making his fifth career appearance and fourth start for the visitors will be young left-hander Zach Logue. With 17.2 innings completed, No. 67 was tapped for four earned runs and 16 hits. Logue struck out 14 and walked five en route to a 2-2 mark with a 2.04 ERA. Unfortunately, the Athletics have encountered a number of problems in this series. Oakland has dropped 15 of the last 19 meetings against the M's including 12 straight! There are other solid angles that support this investment too. Seattle has tasted victory in 13 of its last 18 when facing a foe that owns a team won/loss percentage less than .400 and 35 of its last 51 when returning home off an extended road trip of seven or more days. On the other side of the stadium, Oakland has slipped in seven of its last nine in the first game of a series and nine of its last 12 after scoring two runs or less last. The Mariners have played well at home (9-7) compared to the road (8-18) and they'll have no trouble pounding an A's bunch that is in the cellar in the AL West. Take Seattle with Gonzales. Thanks and best of luck, Tom.
