Analysis
#351 KENT ST (-) over Ohio at 1 PM EST After grabbing a pair of solid wins over Bowling Green and Buffalo, Kent State got absolutely ambushed at Western Michigan last weekend falling to the Broncos by the ugly final of 64-31. Off that 33-point beatdown, the Golden Flashes will have no trouble racing past the Bobcats. Ohio enters this MAC battle on a nifty 3-0 ATS pointspread run and head coach Tim Albin’s kids will be in trouble in this spot. If the embarrassment at WMU won’t be enough to get KSU motivated for this showdown, then the simple fact that head coach Sean Lewis’ crew owns an ugly 0-6 SU record in the last six meetings in this series will be more than enough to do the trick. Even with those straight up blemishes, the Golden Flashes hold a respectable 11-6 ATS mark in the last 17 battles between these two MAC teams. Also, when lined up against a conference foe that hits the field of battle off a straight up loss, Kent State owns a money-making 26-16 ATS tally including a stunning 17-1 SU and 14-4 ATS mark if the Flashes are favored by -2 or more. With those two parameters live and KSU battling on the road, this team trend jumps to a golden 8-0 SU and ATS. There is a strong MAC situation that works against Ohio here too. According to our college football database, MAC hosts that own a team won/loss percentage less than .500 hold a dismal 74-127-3 ATS mark provided both participants take the field off straight up losses and our home team was on the road in their last game. If our “play against” host is lined up against an opponent that is not rested, this situation crashes to a miserable 62-116-3 ATS including a horrible 31-63-3 ATS if they are priced as an underdog or a favorite of -2.5 or less. The Bobcats apply to all three parts of that negative wagering MAC situation. Sitting uncomfortably with a 3-4 SU record through seven games and with three of their remaining five battles on foreign soil including this one against the Green & White, the Golden Flashes know they must win here or their chances of becoming bowl eligible go right out the window. The losing streak to Ohio ends here. Take Kent State.
