Analysis: Root Reserve on Purdue This game might be too much for a Penn State team that could be losing motivation with a tough season winding down. The same cannot be said about Purdue. The Boilermakers metrics are nearly equal on both sides of the ball, but its offense should be the more efficient unit on Friday against the porous Penn State defense. Beyond the strong play in the paint and top 50 offensive rebounding rate, the Boilermakers' perimeter game should get going as top three-point shooter Sasha Stefanovic went 4/8 against Nebraska, his best game by far since returning from COVID on February 6. Penn St’s defense allowing Big Ten opponents to shoot 55.2 percent from two-point range just isn't good good enough to beat quality teams in the conference. It's a particular problem against Purdue, which is one of the biggest teams in all of college basketball with the 6-10, 265 pound Williams and 7-4 Zach Edey to deal with down low. Penn St’s glaring weakness in the paint will be exposed here, and the Nittany Lions can't seem to buy a win in close games. However, we don’t see this game as being close.
