- The Winnipeg Jets are back on the ice after a six-game road trip, and back home for the first time since Nov. 1. It should be a good homecoming, after two days off, and off a 4-3 shootout win over Calgary.
I think the Jets have finally shaken free of that mini-skid, which took place on the road, as they've won two of three.
The Columbus Blue Jackets are on the ice last night, came back from an early deficit to Montreal, gave up the lead and ended up in overtime and went to a shootout before winning, 4-3. The Jackets have now played two straight into a shootout. In fact, three of their last four have gone to a shootout, while four of their last five have gone to extra time.
Now playing the second leg of a back-to-back against a hungry Winnipeg team that can put it in the net, I don't like their chances here in the opener of a four-game trip.
The Jets will be playing their fourth game against both the Eastern Conference and Metropolitan Division, and make note that the Jets have not lost a game against such opponents yet, posting a 3-0-0 record (100% ANGLE) with wins against the New York Islanders, Philadelphia Flyers, and Pittsburgh Penguins.
Last season, Winnipeg posted a 23-8-1 record against the Eastern Conference and a 12-3-1 record against the Metropolitan Division.
Tonight the Jets roll.
