- UT-Martin upset UNLV in the season opener and hasn’t looked back, now 3-0 with a double-digit road win over Bradley last week and ample time to prepare for another high-profile test tonight in Tallahassee. Florida State is coming off a tough loss at Florida in a huge opportunity vs. the defending national champions. The Seminoles played well but allowed 41 second half points to lose 78-76. 25 free throw attempts kept Florida State in that game as they didn’t shoot particularly well. Luke Loucks is a first time head coach taking over for longtime head coach Leonard Hamilton. Loucks has been an NBA assistant as this is first season in a lead role and the Florida State alum will likely have some ups-and-downs this season. Only two players are back from last season’s team and this is expected to be a team that relies on 3-point shooting. UT-Martin just held Bradley to 15 percent from 3-point range to win comfortably on the road even with a 37-17 disadvantage in free throw attempts. In the opener the Skyhawks held UNLV to just 30 percent 3-point shooting. This team had four overtime losses last season as it easily could have been a more competitive season than the 14-19 record with a 9-11 mark in OVC play. Jeremy Shulman was a long time coach at lower levels with great success including a 346-107 record at Eastern Florida State College as this will be an alluring opportunity for him back in the Sunshine State. ‘
