I recently discussed how various NBA teams reacted versus the pointspread when playing the second of back-to-back games. This week, I'll take a look at how 'totals' are influenced in the same situation.
Do teams light up the scoreboard after having played the night before, or do the offenses perform poorly?
As a league, the 'over' and 'under' results have been extremely equal. However, certain teams tend to play high-scoring games when playing with no rest, while others tend to play low-scoring games.
This season's current results are listed below.
Team Over/Under Record
Golden State 4-9
LA Clippers 8-5
LA Lakers 6-9
New Jersey 7-7
New Orleans 6-8
New York 3-9
San Antonio 4-6
Thursday's TNT Hoops: A Western Conference Finals Preview?
Having both recently defeated the Mavericks, the Spurs and Suns will square off against each other Thursday at Phoenix. It will be the third preview of this possible Western Conference finals matchup. It should be an entertaining battle as both teams are red hot.
The Suns have won 10 straight games and 13 of their last 14. The Spurs have won six straight games and 15 of their last 17. The home team has emerged victorious in both this season's meetings but the Suns have earned the 'cover' in each. Both of the games stayed well beneath the 'total.'
