Looking at the Carolina Panthers -- Final 3 Weeks
by Brandon Shively - 12/13/2015
As Carolina tries to close out the very difficult task of going undefeated in the NFL, let's look at their next three games from a betting standpoint:
Week 15: Carolina @ NY Giants----This game will mark Carolina's third road game in four weeks. They just played a divisional game last week against the Falcons and have the Falcons on deck next week then close out with another divisional game against Tampa Bay. I will note that the NY Giants gave the New England Patriots all they could handle earlier this season losing by one point on a last second field goal. That tells me they will be up for this game. Also playing late in December, the weather could possibly be 'New York Giant's' weather giving them another edge. I classify this game as a HUGE divisional sandwich game as the Panthers are coming off two divisional games and have two more in front of them. I expect them to be at least a 3 point road favorite in this spot and I will be looking to give them a fade. *Giants*
Week 16: Carolina @ Atlanta----Depending on what happened in Week 15, the Panthers either come into this game emotionally deflated after losing to the Giants or they have a 'big ego' by potentially being 14-0 at this point and they will now be playing their fourth road game in five weeks. The Panthers just played the Falcons in Week 13 so this is a quick turnaround and the Falcons would love to give their city a win over their rivals. I do like the defensive minded head coach for Atlanta. I do think that he can draw up some schemes to frustrate Cam Newton and disrupt him. Laying points on the road this late in the season is tough along with the fact that the Panthers have their division locked up and should be looking at homefield advantage in the playoffs, resting starters is a possibility. I'll be looking to fade Carolina again here and take the Falcons. *Falcons*
Week 17: Tampa Bay at Carolina----One thing that I will note is that Carolina beat Tampa Bay earlier this season 37-23, but looking closer at that game it was Tampa Bay that outgained the Panthers by 167 yards. Jameis Winston threw 4 interceptions. This will be his second time facing Carolina and is playing a much higher level as the season progresses. Going into Week 14, Tampa Bay has outgained their last five opponents and eight of their last ten. There is a good chance that Carolina rest some players this game. I can't see Tampa Bay resting anybody as they will give it their all to knock the team that everybody has been chasing all year long. *Tampa Bay*
In closing, I will be looking closer at fading Carolina down the stretch in these spots. All of my top picks in the NFL, NCAAF, NBA, and CBB can be found here at BigAl.com.
