Red-Hot LA to Win Title (No, Not That LA)
by ASA - 04/19/2013
If you’re looking for a LONGSHOT to win the NBA Championship look no further than Los Angeles. No, not that L.A. team, but the other one, the one that wears blue and red, not purple and yellow. Yes we’re talking about the L.A. Clippers who are a 20-1 longshot to win it all in 2013. The Clippers have the intangibles to win it all with a veteran all-star point guard in Chris Paul, a dynamic front court with Griffin and Jordan, instant scoring with Jamal Crawford and Caron Butler along with a decent bench. The well rounded Clippers were 4th in offensive efficiency rating and 7th in defensive efficiency ratings and only two other teams (Oklahoma City and San Antonio) in the NBA were in the top 7 in both categories this season. Los Angeles was 9th in the league in scoring at 101.1 ppg and had a stingy defense allowing just 94.6 ppg which was good for 4th overall in the NBA. The Clippers have quietly flown under the radar in the last half of the season going 21-9 SU and head into the post season having won 7 straight games. They will get by a very tough first round opponent in Memphis as they are 3-1 SU against them this season and have home court advantage. At 20-1 the Clippers are worth a small bet to win it all.
