1) Collin Klein; QB Kansas State---K-St would be a mid-level team without Collin Klein. His status as the unquestioned leader and catalyst for a team making an unexpected run at the national title, combined with his statistical prowess, makes him a solid Heisman favorite. His stats back him up as he has thrown 12 TD's with just 2 INT's. He has also managed to keep defenses guessing as he's run for 700 yards with a 5.0 average carry. AND, his team is undefeated.
2) Kenjon Barner; RB Oregon---Kenjon Barner's performance against USC last week changed a lot of Heisman hopefuls hope. Barner's 321-yard, 5-touchdown effort was incredible to watch. with a blowout in most every game this year, Barner is an intriguing candidate because the question lingers: How would his numbers look had he played in more fourth quarters this season? He's rushed for just under 1300 yards and
he has just 22 carries in nine fourth quarters so far. His 7.2 average yards per carry has allowed him to rush for 19 TD's this season. Kenjon gets the Nations game ball last week!!
3) AJ McCarron; QB Alabama---Just what all Heisman hopefuls wish. A game throwing TD on the road against a huge rival in LSU to win the contest. That was "the" moment needed for McCarron this season. And it doesn't hurt that his team finished Number 1 last year, started Number 1 this year and after 10 weeks is still Number 1 and undefeated this year.
4) Manti Te'o; LB Notre Dame---Out of his 87 tackles this season, 42 of them have been solo. Te'o has also recovered 2 fumbles, had 5 interceptions and 5.5 tackles for a loss. All of these plays were momentum stoppers and key defensive plays keeping the Fighting Irish undefeated and in the hunt for the National Championship. Let's give a standing "O" to Mr. Te'o.
