Mike Merlet, Lee Kostroski, & Denny Meng started American Sports Analysts (ASA) in 1997 after working for another well known Midwest Sports Service for a number of years. With over 45 years combined experience between ASA's handicappers, they put their expertise to work for you, handicapping Football, Basketball, Baseball, & Golf.

ASA was #1 NFL Pre-Season during the 2002 Season (87.5% winners) and #7 NFL Regular Season (2002) (61% winners) as documented by Sports Monitor!

ASA's handicapping strategies include power ratings, statistics and other number based systems. They also analyze each team's strengths & weaknesses after watching hundreds of hours of games and coming up with our own evaluations. Then add these strategies to their most important handicapping tool and that is their personal contacts. ASA have numerous people that they talk to (mainly in the Midwest) that can give them some insight on how a team has been practicing, their emotional state, potential game strategies, etc... ASA then incorporate all of these factors into their final decision making process. This has proven to be a very effective method of handicapping for ASA and their customers.

ASA concentrates on Midwest College teams in Football & Basketball (especially the Big Ten where they have great contacts).

ASA also has great contacts in the Big 12, Mid American, Conference USA, Missouri Valley (basketball only), Midwestern Collegiate (basketball only) conferences.

ASA has become well known for their (10*) Midwest Game of the Year which is a perfect 4-0 in College Football, 3-1 in College Basketball since ASA's inception in 1997.

ASA has had over 20 top 10 finishes in just 4 years with the Sports Monitor. ASA also has recorded 3 #1 titles in just 4 years with the Sports Monitor. ASA joined the Sports Watch in Las Vegas at the start of the 2000 Football season. In a short time with them ASA finished in the top 10 in College Football in both winning % and units for the 2000 season. ASA also finished 3rd in the NBA regular season in both winning % and units for the 2000/01 year. Finally, ASA finished in the top 10 in winning % for the 2000/01 College Basketball Season.
